Not big news, but at least it is something

After drafting Eric Maynor, the Jazz are not expected to re-sign veteran point guard Brevin Knight.

Instead, Utah is expected to re-sign the younger Ronnie Price to be the team's second or third option at the position.

Think he's done?

Well, I think that someone will throw the minimum at him, whether or not he wants it is another story. He was good at the beginning of the season so I am sorta curios to know if he had an injury that affected him through the rest of it....

Jazz making right decision to choose Price over Knight. Price can play some SG, works hard, plays, and happy to be in Utah. Sloan admitted he did not use him enough in playoffs. I would have used him more the entire season because he provides energy off the bench. i hope Jazz sign him to 3 year deal.

I think this says the most about Maynor to tell you the truth. The Jazz know Price as well as anyone and realize that while he has his good games like he did in LA, he is very likely to disappear like he has his entire career. I do think he has a place in the rotation, but probably more as an energy guy and not a guy who you expect to carry a certain amount of the load every night.

I think the Jazz trust Maynor enough to be that guy who can be consistent by the end of the season because I don't think they'd be so open about bringing Price back if they weren't sure they wanted to go with him in the start. My guess is by the time the Jazz get back from the Christmas Road Trip Maynor will have had enough good showings that he'll find his way into the rotation.

Pretty obvious

Maynor's play will make it very hard to keep him off the floor I believe. He isn't just a 13 minutes a game guy behind Deron. Kind of like what Millsap did. Boozer is good enough to play 35 minutes a night and only have a back up PF play 13 minutes a game, but Millsap is so good you just can't keep him on the bench that long.

I expect Maynor to be that same way, he'll command floor minutes because he's such a good player. He has more to add then just being a back up PG. If he proves he can hit the long ball, he'll be a real stud.

Or he'll do something that lands him in Sloan's doghouse for the entire year, like shoot an open three.

4 years of college and his ability to contribute in ways that don't involve scoring the ball will win him minutes.

Being a legit ball handler, and having a great basketball IQ will win him minutes. Also I expect the offense to run smoothly when he is in the game, he'll be able to understand what the Jazz are trying to do and adapt to it, instead of hoping the Jazz adapt to what he is doing.

He's that good of a basketball player.

This is sort of on the same note, it looks like Philadelphia might sign Price.

It's pretty much the same situation as he has here. If they don't re-sign Miller, then he has a legitimate chance to secure the backup position there considering Jrue is still unproven.

Holiday is far more raw then Maynor is, so he could have a better chance of being the #2 all season. Also It's not like Deron Williams would be the one in front of him, Lou Williams would be the first string PG, but he'd definitely be in the lower half of the league as far as starting PG's go which could mean more minutes for Ronnie.

They may also be willing to pay him more.

Exactly, I don't know how Ronnie feels about Utah, I know he played College ball here and is well liked, but the scenario in Philly sounds to good to pass-up.
