All Opting In?

If, as rumored, Boozer is convinced there's no market for his services at more than he's making, what makes Memo think he'll have any more luck? Has anyone seen Memo's name attached to any teams in the FA market? I haven't.
I think Okur's camp is bargaining for an extension.

I heard a while back that Detroit would have interest in bringing Memo back....but theyve had interest in all our guys so thats no surprise.
There very well could be interest around the league in a sign and trade for Memo as he isnt even in the top 20 among centers as far as pay goes.
He is a great value, and SOMEONE would pay him for it.

I think it would be easier for Okur(9mil/yr) to get a pay raise to around 10-11mil than it would be for boozer(12mil/yr) to get a pay raise to 13-14mil/yr. It doesn't seem like a lot less, but it would be the same range as David lee or Millsap (if you believe his uncle). Some have argued that boozer and okur don't exist well together on the frontline, I guess if Okur leaves we'll see.

I don't think Okur is so much looking for a raise as he is an extension. My guess is he will be right at about that 8-9 million dollar a year average for his contract just like it has been every year that he has been in Utah. He wants more years, not more money.

11-12M average, 5 year, TO for fifth, it's a good deal for Okur.
I think his agent has a point when he links the idea of European market and Okur's father health; just don't think Okur is the kind of guy that would use his father condition pressure factor.

They mentioned an idea on 1280 the zone today that makes some sense with Okur. It sounds like he might have an option to fall back on in Europe that will pay him what he wants (10M+/year), but he would prefer to stay in Utah first. So now with Europe teams paying large amounts for players their is now an 'X' factor involved especially with foreign players. It's not who in the NBA is willing to pay anymore.
If this is true I can understand why he would take the chance.

Memo has specifically mentioned where his salary ranks among centers throughout the league and how he wants to be fairly compensated....he definitely wants more money. And to be honest, especially out of all of our free agents, he deserves it.

He also said he'd be willing to give the Jazz a home town discount. I would be very surprised if anyone was willing to pay a 30 year old center who doesn't play a whole lot of defense more then 10 mil a year in this market.

Okur is a TERRIBLE defensive center. Am I the only one that wants Boozer, Okur, Miles, and AK off this team? I would rather win 30 games than watch these heartless players suit up in a Jazz uniform.

There's a reason Jazz have been drafting big boys. Why wouldn't we think Koufos/Fesenko are able to give us kind of a D spark? Most big dudes needed a number of seasons to make it work. These young guys already troubled some NBA big guys out there. They have the tools, all they need is a chance to get regular minutes. Okur's not the best D big guy, but I want him on my team regardless.

The good thing that if all 3 players opt in then they will be in contract years looking for the next big pay day. Boozer might actually play 82 games.

What happens to Millsap if Boozer, Memo stay IN their deals? Or even just Boozer. The Jazz salary is roughly 71 million. If Memo opts out of his 9 million deal, then you're liable for 62 million + the cap hold on Maynor. So that'll give you roughly 7-8 million to throw at Millsap, but then you lose Okur or Pay the lux tax.

At this point I expect Boozer to not opt out and for the Jazz to come to some sort of an extension agreement with Memo. If this is the case Milsap could very well be gone, we just won't be able to afford him.
I'm a fan of Boozers offense, but if he opts in, I'd like to see him traded quickly for whatever we can get for him before he gets greedy again next offseason. Even if it were something like for Camby plus Maggette. That would make the Clippers one of the best line up of bigs in the league with Boozer, Randolph, Kaman, Griffin. I'd rather Kaman but I doubt they would do that.
I'd then try to pick up Bass for about the MLE that he is after.
Williams - Price
Brewer - Korver - Miles
Maggette - AK - Harpring
Milsap - Bass - AK/Memo/Koufos
Memo - Camby - Koufos-Fes
I think we would be a better team.

You really would be?
Maybe you oughtta look around the league and see what some of the very below average stiffs are getting paid. Memo doesnt play D, but he's no stiff.
You may be right as far as your point about the market, but that still doesnt change the fact that Memo WANTS more money, which in not so many words he has said he does.
