With Boozer and Okur coming back, it looks like the UTA pick will be worth less, but will most likely be cashed in 2010. Briefly, the protections are:
top 17 in 2010, top 15 in 2011, top 16 in 2012, top 16 in 2013
MIN is playing for 2010, so they'd be happy to load you up with cheap bench talent this year as well (Craig Smith, Telfair, Ryan Gomes).
They could use future considerations, moving the 2010 salary of Songalia, or maybe an SG or SF to just get them through the season.
Any ideas?

We can't help you unload salary.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Re: UTA 1st?
I have to admit, I'm not coming up with anything myself.
My thinking is that for Utah, the pick has its own value, but its helpful whether you do great or poorly. If you do poorly, say because of injury, it provides insurance. If you're a contender in March, it frees up an asset for trade to a weak team so you can fill an immediate need.
