Would You Guys do Deng for Boozer? is an immediate money savings for You Guys, along with young talent.


Or Deng+Tyrus for Boozer and CJ Miles also works. It has a smaller cash savings this year, but there is some. And if they do want to move Miles (a few years left on his deal), that would help them.

I'd even throw in a 2011 first rounder, if I got to decide.

While I don't think a Deng for Boozer is a great deal for us, I would jump all over the Boozer/CJ for Tyrus/Deng. That would actually work imo.

I've always really like deny but not a big fan of TT tho. The trade is fair and good for both teams I think, I'd do it.

Apparently there has been an offer on the table for Carlos Boozer from Chicago. Chicago's most reliable inside source who has been right about 90%+ the time he has a deal involving

Look for the Chicago Bulls to make a strong push for Carlos Boozer. Reports have indicated the Bulls are interested in trading for the Utah Jazz power forward and there is a lot of truth to it. General Manager Gar Forman has already had discussions with the Jazz about sending Boozer to Chicago and talks could heat up even more in the coming weeks. The Bulls are looking to send Tyrus Thomas and most likely Jerome James to the Jazz for Boozer, the problem is the Jazz are talking to several other teams and may wait to find a better deal. Either way, the Bulls will at least make a strong effort at trying to get Boozer in Chicago.

Trading for Boozer would be a huge lift for the Bulls. The front office has really felt the pressure from the media and the fans after loosing Ben Gordon. Acquiring Boozer would take some of the pain and focus off loosing Gordon. Boozer would also add the low post scoring threat the Bulls desperately need, so long as he stays healthy. Plus, they would only be loosing Tyrus Thomas, whom they have been trying to deal all summer anyway. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the coming weeks.

It would my preference as well - but we are so painfully thin in the backcourt that I don't know that the Bulls can afford to lose Hinrich. He's going to play 30+ minutes a night backing up both position.

We don't really need anymore SF's though that's the problem. I like the trade but we still have a log jam and I have never really seen TT as a PF. Probably one of the better Boozer trades though.

That should fix your problem. Tyrus may or may not work out, who knows. He did put up 14/9 stats for the last 35 games on the season.

For a frame of reference, the Bulls poster who put this up has correctly cited trades in the past such as Jalen Rose to Indiana and the Ben Wallace/Larry Hughes one (in an altered form)

So he's legit. The Tyrus as SF thing........He's a tweener PF, just not coordinated enough to ever be what you want as SF.


Let your mouth water over that block rate. And his rebounding is improving.


As far as scoring he has one effective move off the dribble, the jumper and FT% have come a long way--- but back-to-the-basket is worthless. He's young though so you can still take a look and see if he puts it all together once away from the place he was drafted.

We've seen it happen with Tyson Chandler where leaving Chicago's lights can have a positive effect (that is til you get injured badly)

I don't think the Jazz will settle for TT and Jerome James. We get better defensively, but we would really need to find some more scoring from somewhere...which is why Deng is appealing.

IMO, Koufos has shown that he has what it takes to develop a great post game. It might not be this year, but if given the chance he could help solve the Jazz's 3 main issues...length, defense and toughness. I think he will eventually be a starter.

And I really don't mind parting with CJ.

A 1-2 punch of AK+Deng excited me sexually.

The deal is Tyrus Thomas + Jerome James (80% covered by insurance if he doesn't play which is likely) for Carlos Boozer.

Assuming one of your main goals is to save money in order to re-sign Millsap, I think this deal works out really well. This deal might not get you guys far enough underneath the luxury tax, but if 80% of Jerome's salary is covered, then it still accomplishes the goal of saving money.


Another way to save you guys money would be the following trade proposed by Cliff Levingston (the Bulls poster, not the former NBA player)

Bulls trade: Hinrich and Tyrus for Boozer and Blake
Jazz trade: Boozer for Tyrus
Blazers trade: Blake for Hinrich

That trade saves you guys even more money and thus allows you guys to re-sign Millsap. Tyrus essentially becomes a 1 year rental who can either expire or warrant a $6-8 million/year extension.

The Blazers get their upgrade at PG (especially defensively) by using their cap space.

We downgrade Hinrich to Blake, upgrade Tyrus to Boozer, and improve our cap situation for the 2010 class.

Hinrich is a smart player, an above average perimeter defender, a decent shooter and he can play back-up point guard if necessary - alleviating the need for the Jazz to sign a third PG. It would also keep him from going to Portland and potentially strengthening a division rival. Thomas, of course, is long, super-athletic, and can block shots - stuff the Jazz could use more of - though he has his drawbacks too.

With this trade I believe we'd also shave about a million and a half off our salaries (which would save us about 3 million overall when you add in the luxury tax).

I actually like all of these trade ideas, but I would definitely prefer getting rid of CJ and having Deng included in the deal. I'm not sure how feasible that is but I'd love a scoring wing like Deng who can shoot

Bulls fans are pretty down on Deng because of his injury riddled season and his contract. We'd get rid of him before Kirk for sure, except we just assume nobody would take Deng off our hands.

That is how Bulls fans feel - but the owner, Jerry Reinsdorf, is a huge fan of Deng & gave him his contract. I do not know if JR would want to trade his guy yet.

Right now the best trade between these teams seems to be

Chicago: Outlaw, Blake, Boozer

Portland: Hinrich, James

Utah: Tyrus, Gibson

Utah can have the option to switch Korver out for Outlaw, or Korver for Tim Thomas.

Utah gets complete cap relief here, Portland loves the trade, and Chicago gets what they need.

Helps Portland way too much for the Jazz to pull the trigger.

What makes a lot of sense is a three-way between Detroit, Chicago and Utah. Chicago S&Ts Ben Gordon + Tyrus Thomas to Detroit, Utah sends Boozer to Chicago and Utah gets cap space. If that doesn't work under the CBA, then Detroit and Chicago can make the trade separately and later Chicago can use the $13M trade exception to pick up Boozer. The three teams can add draft picks or additional salary as needed to make it work. In reality, Detroit has little reason to do this unless they get assets in return--that is why Tyrus Thomas is included in the trade but likely can be substituted out for something else of value.
