Question about the boozer trade and Millsap

The NY Knicks have Cutino Mobley's ending contract that is 80% insured at 9.5mm. We can throw in an additional 3mm in cash making the entire contract cost free to the Jazz + adding in an extra mm+
If we traded you Mobley for Boozer straight up you would lose 3mm at the top of the cap and 12mm in salary--more than enough to compensate Millsap with money left over.

No way the Jazz do anything to directly lessen the value of that 1st round pick.
What does that contract being insured mean for cap purposes?

I am pretty sure that they cannot trade Mobley because they have a medical exception on him. If they were to trade him I believe that salary that was removed from their books would go right back on. I could be wrong, but I believe that is the rule.

There are other teams with crap to give who can do the same thing, in the east. The Knicks would have to sweeten their deal. I wouldn't be opposed to a sweetened NY deal as I doubt Boozer gives them more than 10 extra wins.

Youre wrong. Mobley never officially retired so his contract is on our cap and therefore tradeable. It would count against your cap by the caveat is 80% of his salary is paid by insurance saving u guys around 8 mil.

The injured exemption for Mobley was disapproved by the NAB because it was an existing condition when the trade was completed.

Zero incentive for the Jazz to help the Knicks improve as long as we are holding that #1 pick.

I would say zero. It is very minimal but I am sure if there was a way the Knick's could save the Jazz millions upon millions they would consider it.

What about the Jerome James , Tyrus Thomas deal from the Bulls, Doesn't that bring cap space?

It has been beaten to death. If it were to happen, it would've already.

I think the Bulls fans want Boozer, but not the front office.
