Boozer to Miami- thoughts?

Avid Jazz fan, I read a lot, but never post...so please be kind.

There was chatter on the Miami board about trading for Boozer days before the recent reference that has them as a possible suitor.

Apparently they have 4.2M in TPE (i didn't verify this). They are tossing around names such as U. Haslem, D.Wright, Y. Diawara, M. Blount, D. Cook, C. Quinn and possibly Beasley in a possible deal. Do we have any interest in any of these players?

They also seem high on CJ Miles.

None of those players interest me really, aside from Beasley....thats why I can see Utah doing it. I just know they are goin to do something very underwhelming and pass it off as a blockbuster.

I'm 99% sure Beasley is off the table in any Boozer trade.

I don't think Heat will involve Beasley in any deal. They smell blood in the water and when Booz does get traded, it's going to be for a lot less than his real value

+1, probably for some expiring contracts for instant cap relief + some decent prospects or future draft picks.

The entire league knows that Utah wants to get rid of Boozer, get back some cap space, and match Millsap. The Heat own one of the largest trade exceptions in the league (4.2 million), and have the salaries to make it happen.

I just don't see Utah getting anything near equal value, and I'd be shocked if Beasley was included in any deal.

From what I understand, that trade exception can't be combined with player salaries as if it were cap-space. It would have to be traded for a single player. So they Jazz could trade CJ Miles for Miami's trade exception, but they couldn't trade Boozer for Blount + trade exception.

I'm sure there could be a three- or four-way deal that utilizes it, but I'm not seeing a deal straight across between Miami and Utah that really helps the Jazz clear space.

Clippers Get: Green/Blount/Rights to DeVon Hardin
Clippers Give: Kaman/Thornton

The Clippers upgrade at SF, and continue to cut future salary, while getting a young big man prospect.


Jazz Get: Kaman
Jazz Give: Boozer

The Jazz have wanted Kaman for a while, and they want to get rid of Boozer. Then the Clips/Jazz could agree in principle to Harpring/'10 First from Jazz (Lotto Protected)/3mil Cash for future second and another $3mil cash along with a possible swap of future seconds deal, so the Jazz can resign Millsap. This looks a lot less complicated when JazzFan1971 wrote it out in the Clippers TPE thread on the trade board.


Heat Get: Boozer/Thornton
Heat Give: Beasley/Blount

The Heat keep DWade happy, and could get both Boozer and Wade to sign extensions as a result. Plus Thornton would give them more scoring at SF and is still on his rookie contract for 2 more years.

Thunder Give: Green/Rights to DeVon Hardin

The Thunder make a slight upgrade and get another 20 year old, along with Durant, Westbrook, and Harden, who are also all only 20! Hardin doesn't mean much to OKC, since they have no room for him after signing Ibaka.

Trade 2:

3.7M TPE for CJ Miles

This way the Jazz would save 5.43M right away.

Or if you want to save more money:

Trade 1: Haslem, Blount, Diawara, for Boozer, Harpring

Trade 2: 3.7M TPE for Miles

This way the Jazz save 6.84M, Would you do any of these deals?

It would have to be two separate trades. One for Boozer in exchange for players and then one for Miles for the TPE.

But with an area and locale like Miami, the Heat might just be one of the teams in the NBA that Boozer really wants to play for for. He might just up and re-sign with them after next season. If I were the Jazz's GM, I would not trade Boozer to Miami UNLESS I got Michael Beasley back in return. The Jazz are not going to just trade away one of their leading scorers and rebounders for nothing. The Heat would have to give up something of theirs as well.
