Miami wants Boozer AND Odom???

Post#1 » by HammerDunk » Thu Jul 16, 2009 6:01 am

Per the tap...

http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wireta ... _and_odom/

If Odom is available or even close to available for this kind of money, why aren't we trying to get him to Utah? I guess he might not fit our system that well, but we could get him for less than Sap if he were looking at a contract near the MLE with Miami... But he would bring us something we miss desperately... LENGTH! Interesting stuff brewing with Odom...

He turned down $9M/year to play in LA but he'll come to Utah for MLE? You've been smokin' too many gummy bears with Lamar...

Here would by my ideal situation for all the teams involved in this deal:
Heat get Carlos Boozer (trade), C.J. Miles (trade exception), and Odom (mid-level exception)

Jazz get Michael Beasley (trade), Udonis Haslem (trade), and the trade exception from Miami

Memphis gets Dorell Wright, cash, and draft picks from Miami

This trade works under the collective bargaining agree and would be good for all three teams.

Depth Charts:
Utah:
PG: Deron Williams, Ronnie Price, Eric Maynor
SG: Ronnie Brewer, Kyle Korver
SF: Michael Beasley, Andrei Kirilenko
PF: Paul Millsap, Udonis Haslem, Goran Suton
C: Mehmet Okur, Kosta Koufos, Kyrylo Fesenko

Miami:
PG: Mario Chalmers, Chris Quinn
SG: Dwayne Wade, Daequan Cook, James Jones
SF: Lamar Odom, C.J. Miles, Yakhouba Diawara
PF: Carlos Boozer, Joel Anthony, Robert Dozier
C: Jermaine O'Neal, Mark Blount, Jamaal Magloire

Memphis: ?

millsap is from our own team so we can go over the cap for him. odom is not. all we have is the MLE to offer odom.

Odom prefers the big market teams, no way he would come to Utah over LA or Miami.

Here is my proposed Miami/Memphis trade...

Boozer to Miami
Brewer to Memphis
Haslem to Memphis
Richardson to Utah
Daequan Cook to Utah
Beasley to Utah

Get er done. Admittedly I am not as in love with Brewer as some. He is like Bryon Russell without a jump shot.... And was totally exposed in the playoffs for what he is.

Jazz score two promising players, resign Sap and get some relief from Q-Tip. Hope that Beasley can help Sap make up the difference from Boozer leaving (which we will miss far more than most of you will accept). Cook helps replace Brew at 2 spot.

Miami might not want to lose two youngsters either but they are getting a 2 time all-star.

Memphis gets some cap space when Haslem comes off and a good defender to compliment Gay/Mayo.

So Miami gives up Cook, Haslem AND Beasley for Boozer? No way in hell they do that.

Take out Cook and there is a possibility. I still think that trade is too favored to the Jazz to actually be done.

Exactly, I can EASILY see him turning down more money in LA, for less money and living in Utah.

If Miami wants Boozer, they will have to give up Beasley. This trade rumor for Haslem is crap. We ain't the freaking Memphis Grizzles.

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/miam ... 8353.story

What was made clear in Riley's private session was that the Heat's interest in re-acquiring forward Lamar Odom from the Los Angeles Lakers is legitimate, with numbers being discussed that would approach the current Lakers' free-agent offer that Odom has rejected, when accounting from Florida's lack of state income tax and other options regarding payments.

Beyond that, the Heat has not entered talks about possibly acquiring forward Carlos Boozer from the Utah Jazz, but is monitoring that situation, with no expectation of a quick resolution by the Jazz.

I'm not saying Riley is telling the truth, I'm only posting the article for those interested.

I would think if they got Odom they would pull the trigger on Boozer. They would have less cap space and they can acquire Booz for his bird rights. If they got Odom, Beasley gets out of the picture more. Im not necessarily interested in him, but Utah could leverage for a pick or two. Boozer and Odom secures Wade.

Agreed.

Riley btw has been known for many smokescreens in his entire life, a week before Shaq got traded, he said he wouldn't even dare to trade Shaq, and when the JO rumor leaked a month before it happened, he said he's not exploring that option and put water to the fire.

Overall, let's just wait at what happens, but I'm 100% confident that there would be something big going down within the next 48 hours.
