Good to hear. And the Bonus is actually a good thing, lowers money we have to pay over the next few years when resigning Brewer.

Why so soon? I thought they would wait to the last second.

I'm not surprised at this, maybe more so that it happened before the 11th hour. Now do the right thing with Boozer and don't send him away for peanuts.

I wonder if they went soon to give Portland a better shot at Odom.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

The Blazers made the offer tougher to match but it was not a toxic offer in my opinion and it must be a good feeling to know your ownership steps up when needed. There are plenty teams out there when the you know what hits the fan they look for a hole to hide in and not step up.

I do wonder if the Jazz have a offer for Boozer that;s nearing completion since they are announcing this like 2 days early. Also it is 2 days early as Pritchard was on the radio noon pacific time and he said Utah had through Saturday to match. Nice job in matching and have fun trading Boozer

Should be interested to see what happens next...

From what it sounds like the Jazz held a meeting to discuss Millsap and his future with the Jazz today and it was quickly decided that they were going to bring him back regardless of what else was going on. I don't think it has anything to do with potential deals nearing completion I just think it was something they wanted to do and didn't see the reason in waiting till the last day.

Do any teams have large enough TE's to take on Boozer's salary? I would have to assume that has been mentioned.

Orlando has one pretty big one - however they're heavily in the tax already themselves.
Rip Hamilton is a stain on the Pistons franchise.

Well. I dont know if Paul Millsap is the starting PF for a championship team. Oh well time to move on.

I predict that the Jazz will be in training camp with Millsap and Boozer. The Jazz are the most gunshy team in the entire league. They never pull of big deals. They will bide their time as long as possible. I actually have heard a qoute like that from KOC. "Dont make a decision until you have to."

Just to screw Portland I hope the Jazz swing a 3 team deal with the Bulls and swing Hinrich away from Portland.

I actually think they announce early to bring up the trade with Chicago and Portland again. Maybe Chicago has warmed to the idea.

I think everyone knew this was coming, so why wait? I'm not a reporter so I don't have sources, but I would bet everything that I own that Portland has been negotiating with potential FAs as if the match was a foregone conclusion. This deal was to force the Jazz' hands on a trade.

If you want to get technical they actually haven't announced anything official yet. As far as this topic is concerned until announced formally this is just a rumor...a solid and expected rumor but a rumor until proven truthful. So really they won't match till the last day since tomorrow is when it will be officially announced.
