Poll: Thomas , Beasley or Haslem???

Post#1 » by Shocker00 » Fri Jul 17, 2009 8:23 am

Who would you want on the team. I voted for Thomas. I think Haslim will probably be here one year and then go back to a Florida team next year. He just loves it there in Florida. I think Beasley is a little small for PF and too slow on his feet to play SF. I also think Thomas has a lot of potential.

Beasley by far, but he is the hardest to get.

beasley owns Thomas and Haslem.

Boozer isn't a rental. He desperately wants to extend, especially with Miami.

And I assume they can do that without giving Beasley. And they assume it too.

Beasley's remaining contract: 4.64, 4.96 (Team Option), 6.26 (TO), 8.17 (Qualifying Offer)
Tyrus Thomas: 4.74, 6.23 (Qualifying Offer)

I think Miami will have to offer more than Haslem + Dorell Wright's modest cap space to get Boozer. I'm not saying it's Beasley or bust, but there needs to be more relief than $2.75M.

What a stupid poll.

Beasley - Will not be moved, so don't even select him.
Thomas - Obviously next. Max capability, Josh Smith with slightly less offense, but better D.
Haslam - Why is this an option? Guy can't even start on many teams.

In order.

Haslem shouldn't even be an option. The Jazz are not giving up Boozer for Haslem its just that simple. Giving up Boozer for TT or Beasley are the only fair options at this point.

I would prefer TT over Beasley. I have never liked Beasley and I have liked Tyrus since college. Thomas along side AK gets me excited and I am always down for more long, athletic, shot blocking, versatile small forwards. Beasley seems to be a knuckle head anyways and despite Thomas and his tats he seems to have his head in the right place.

Beasley is probably the better player but I rather see Thomas here in Utah.

Putting a purple jersey back on maybe the best think for Tyrus Thomas?

For the record, Haslem started on an NBA Championship team. :) No more Haslem hate!!!
But I will agree with you about the poll - obviously Beasley is the best player with the most upside, and Tyrus is significantly younger and a better defender than Haslem, so he would be the logical second choice. I'd be fine with any of these guys personally.

Die Hard Miami Fan

First and foremost I would begg for you to take Beasley he is a phenominal scorer but he cant pass. you have a point guard that would demand that he is traded by the first half of the season. If the Jazz has patience to have beasley develop by his third year then go ahead

Personally I would love to keep haslem, he does all the tanigibles, rebound, defend and compliments all other big men around him, He shows up everyday and gets you 12 and 10

We should trade Boozer for Chris Paul, since New Orleans is looking to cut money. How great would be our back court. Deron would slide to the two guard because he is bigger. Then trade brewer, and miles for a big man.

With the jazz's current situation and boozer being a rental, I don't see why miami would feel inclined to trade beasley. IF somehow they were willing to, this trade is a steal for the jazz.

I don't see why everyone keeps pulling up the excuse of "Boozer is just a rental". He came out and said he would want an extension with the right team. Really what you have to figure out is who he is willing to sign an extension with or who is willing to sign him to an extension.

I don't buy into the rental argument cause honestly we don't know which teams are willing or what Boozer wants.

Yes I am a Heat fan and I want Boozer, but i honestly believe Jazz fans will want Haslem over Thomas at the end of the day. Thomas did begin to improve last season, but then didnt impress me much during the playoffs. Thomas doesnt seem like a sloan type player, and if he isnt, then you guys would be just renting Thomas.

Haslem seems like the perfect Sloan type player. He can backup Milsap at PF and give you guys some minutes at C. He will probably be your toughest player, and also a very good leader. Haslem was one of the reasons the Heat won the title a few years ago with his defense he played on Dirk throughout the series.

Come playoff time, I think Haslem is the better player for the Jazz than Tyrus Thomas would be. Just my opinion though.

Everyone keeps saying that because what happens if a team gets boozer and (contrary to what he says)he doesn't want to sign an extension, or the amount they are offering is not enough. Boozer can just wait to sign next summer when nearly the whole league will have cap space. So if your a GM you can hope that he does sign an extension, but you assume he's a rental.

Boozer wants a giant extension that no team wants to give, that's why he is considered a rental. If he were willing to sign either a short term big money deal (I.e. max for 3 years) or a reasonable long term one (5 years 55 mil say) then a lot of teams would want him. He isn't going to do that, and he is going to go to whatever team gives him the most money next off-season.
