With the signing of Price and the matching of Millsap the jazz must be in the top 3 in Nba salaries . I know the are now well above 80 million. I never thought that I would say that about the jazz.

And people say we dont take chances.

9th overall with 73 million according to Hoopshype, and that doesn't include Millsap and Price's new contracts.

Yep, and they are trying to dump Boozer's contract of almost $12.5mil and possibly even Ak's $17mil.

This is unbelievable. The summer is over, and the Jazz are at 80 million.

If there was ever a time to blast Cannibal Corpse and eat cookie dough until I pass out, it's now.

The summer isn't over, though. A lot time and a lot of moves to be made yet. Right now we should be around 81 or 82. Still, that doesn't put us top 3. We should be around 5th, I believe. And there is really no way we will finish next season with that number where it is. One way or another, we will shave some salary off the books, even if Boozer stays. Not just that, but the top contenders aren't done making moves, either. LA will probably have a payroll of nearly 100m this year.

While we're at it .......and while everyone continues to bagg on boozer for his 12 million, might as well ackowledge that each and every Jazz player starting with Deron Williams, has chased all the money they could get....... and are all a part of the now 83 million dollar problem.

They are counting Millsap's salary as 10.3 million this season though, but since the signing bonus is spread throughout the 4 years (from what I've read), his actual salary is about 6.3 million this season when we consider how much the Jazz wil pay in luxury tax. The article says that the Jazz will receive about 9.4 million dollars from the NBA for salary corrections and luxury tax collected last year. So basically the Jazz have covered almost all the luxury tax they're supposed to pay this year. I have no idea if the Jazz have had profit the last few years, but it seems that they're not in such a tough financial situation as we first thought.

If the Lakers re-sign Odom, they will be #1 with 93-94 million.

You still have to add 1/4 of Sap's signing bonus to that figure (5.6/4 = 1.4), which brings the Jazz's payroll to about 82 mil, more than 12 mil over the LT.

It is already added actually. His salary for this season is about 4.8 million + 1.4 from the signing bonus. The Jazz did have to pay the whole signing bonus, so although the payroll is at about 81 million, the Jazz also had to pay 4.2 million (5.6-1.4 already counted as his salary this year) to Sap already. If we count all the costs from salaries, luxury tax, Sap's signing bonus, the Jazz will have to pay about a 96 million dollars total this year.
