We overpay for Battier, but he is the perfect guy for Sloan. Jazz package Berry, Harpring, Dorsey to Memphis for cap relief and give 2010 1st rounder (not NY pick) to Memphis. I generally don't place as much value as some on late first rounders.

No, i like brewers potential more then i like battiers max. Brent barry and james white do nothing for us. So really its boozer and brewer for battier and thomas pass.

Although I like the idea of the trade and the players the Jazz would land I would hate to give up Brewer. I think the Jazz should hold onto him as long as they possibly can. Would the deal work if you swapped Brewer out for C.J?

Just a minor technicality but the Jazz' 2010 1st round pick (top 17 protected) is already gone to Minnesota (from the Korver trade--it was traded by the 76ers). It would have to be a future pick that is traded.

Battier should be good...very good...
But I like Brewer...he's young...he's athletic...
We must keep him...

I would far rather see Hinrich coming to the Jazz than Thomas, particularly if we are losing Brewer. Switch out CJ for Brewer, send Thomas to Houston and Hinrich to Utah and I love it. Equalize with draft picks or send Fes to Houston as well, they're desperate for bigs. If we could swing AK for McGrady at the same time, I would really dig it.

PG Williams/ Hinrich/ Price/ Maynor
SG Hinrich/ Brewer/ Price
SF Battier/ Brewer/ Harpring
PF Millsap/ Big Baby?/ Okur
C Okur/ Koufos/ Collins?

Jazz restore financial sanity by dealing McGrady's contract at the deadline for one good player on a decent contract plus expirings. Or play out the season with him once he's able to play, take a deep run into the playoffs, and let him expire. Then...

If the Jazz luck out and are able to add a franchise quality big with the NYK pick to this line up, they could be a top tier team for years with only minor tweaks each season.

^that deal makes a ton of sense for all three teams.

Chicago gets their guy. Utah saves $4 million, picks up a perfect fit in Battier, and gets a guy in Landry that can play a similar role to what Millsap played last year. Houston gets a young talent in Tyrus plus two expiring deals worth over $7 million for 2010, since they are clearly in rebuilding mode.

OMG if Utah could get Battier and Landry they would have a VERY good team, and be a pretty legit defensive team!

Okur/Koufos
Millsap/Landry
Battier/Kirilenko/Harpring
Brewer/Korver/Miles
Williams/Price/Maynor

Do we have anyone else under contract?

As much as I geek out over the notion of getting Hinrich, I would be ecstatic if we got Battier and Landry.

Really like the Battier/Landry deal, but I agree that Houston would want more.

The more i think about the Boozer 3 way trade, the less sense it makes to me. If Carlos Boozer could be had for Battier and Landry why the hell is Chicago in this trade for? Carlos Boozer is not the ideal fit for Houston but he'll savage this season for us Rocket fan.

Houston trade:
Battier
Landry

Houston Receive:
Carlos Boozer

Utah Trade:
Carlos Boozer

Utah Receives:
Battier
Landry

Cut out the middle man i'll say.....

Houston is saving 4 million in salary and clearing 10 million off their 2010 cap number.

It's the Houston FO not the fans that makes trades so there's no reason to get them on board

If rumor is true they're talking about it and that means they have interest

I'm willing to eat crow, mouthful of it, if this trade goes down without more compensation coming to Houston's way. Our Gm isn't Steve Kerr.....

This trade does work.

Successful Trade Scenario
Congratulations on a successful trade.

Due to Utah, Chicago, and Houston being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Utah, Chicago, and Houston had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
