Millsap never visited PDX nor talked to Pritchard or Nate

How much interest Portland had in signing Millsap -- as opposed to forcing the Jazz to match -- remains in question. Millsap revealed that he never talked with Blazers general manager Kevin Pritchard or coach Nate McMillan as part of the process.
From what we learned Saturday, though, Millsap never visited Portland, never spoke on the phone with GM Kevin Pritchard or coach Nate McMillan and didn't get a July 1 call, raising the question of just how interested Portland was in actually having him.

No doubt remains. What a bunch of bitches.
Smart, though. Have to admit that. Won't generate much good will in league exec. circles, though.

You guys believe all your opwn press to much. The media is their to gnerate all us slob s who have nothing better to do then buy in to all the gossip.
The Jazz said their priority was to sign Milsap. They did! They drafted a Very good future point guard, Mayner!! They resigned a spirited Player in Price who will be a great back up to Williams while playing a little two guard. They re-signed Okur for two years after this one to secure a decent center/PW for 3 years. They still aren't done. Boozer is left. I know the jazz are usually conservative fiscally. The old stuff finally caught with them. They can handle it financially!! The Jazz are cagey in their dealings with players and agents. Old school!! Does everybody have to check players in and out to find a win/now combination. Keeping the core/most of the team may just be what is needed. Why always re-invent the wheel? Just last year, with this team, the Jazz were picked to contend in the west.
Injuries to Boozer, Williams, Okur, Korver, Kirlinko, Milsap, Harpring really hurt the jazz alot.
Chill, Its the Utah Jazz

It does make you wonder though...
I still believe the Trailblazers had a legit interest in Millsap, perhaps they didn't talk because they figured they would match and didn't want to get too close? Who knows but I still doubt they did it just to mess up the Jazz financially.

Don't come to the Portland board crying again. Portland did nothing wrong. They offered a RFA a contract. A player that they have seen play for a few years. Don't get your panties in a wad even if the story is true. Several other teams have written salary advances into contracts before. Portland is not the first. They did not invent the idea. Where was your outrage when Memphis signed Miles in an obvious ploy to put his $9 mil back on Portlands cap? It seems the only bitch you will see is the one facing you in a mirror. Crying on the Portland board, seriously? Get a grip!

I wonder what the reaction on this board be if Boozer did something like that....... I doubt all of you would be so forgiving.......

Millsap and his representatives ought to get their stories straight. That way they wouldn't look so shifty:
Vartanian insists that Millsap will be whatever Blazers coach Nate McMillan wants him to be. He said Millsap and McMillan have already engaged in lengthy conversations about his role. The two have exchanged cell phone numbers and will become more closely acquainted next week when Millsap takes part in Team USA practices in Las Vegas.
"They discussed at length at how to use Paul,'' Vartanian said. "I think they already have a good relationship.''
http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindblazersbeat/2009/07/agent_millsap_is_missing_piece.htmlthat sure doesn't match what he said in the article posted in the OP:
Millsap revealed that he never talked with Blazers general manager Kevin Pritchard or coach Nate McMillan as part of the process.
conflicting stories
maybe the Jazz reporter actually needs to practice a little journalism

The Jazz are suckers. They should have let Portland keep that contract and accept all the money they have to pay being over the cap once Roy and Aldridges contract extensions kick in.
Millsap is not a good enough player to take out a bank loan to keep.

Lets see.
The rep said he talked to McMilan. Millsap said he didnt talk to either. Whom are we to believe? Why is Utahs inaccurate and Portlands correct? As for Siler he is a top notch writer. He went to Northwestern and worked on the Lakers beat for the LA times prior to this gig. He is one of the better beat writers in the NBA IMO, and especially here because he has no team bias or dip his pen in company ink like ever other Utah journalist.

Why are you acting like a douche? Didn't my quote just say that it was a "smart" thing to do? Its just a form of gamesmanship, very like the Miles deal that you referred to.
Did I ever say they shouldn't have done it? No, absolutely not. Not only that, but if they
really wanted him, they would have offered him all the money they had under the cap with maximum per year raises. Portland doesn't have to worry about staying under the tax for future seasons, and this year's cap space is a one time thing, considering that Roy and LMA extensions are kicking in after next year. No, they clearly offered just as much as they thought that Utah would match and no more. Smart, but a little bit underhanded, you have to admit. Its the kind of deal that will breed ill-will in league circles and could limit Pritchard's ability to deal down the road.
All in all, if my team had done the same thing, though, I would be beaming. So...yeah. Bitches.

How much of Milsap's 10 mil + salary for 2009-10 actually counts on the Jazz's total for the year?

wrong, let's just say that with one exception, everybody there talked just about as civilly as did you.
I know you dismiss what Milsap's agent said and prefer to think that Millsap is the one being factual because it supports your narrative.
However, what the agent said wasn't just some off-hand remark. He specifically said that Millsap and McMillan have had lengthy conversations. And he said it twice, as well as saying they had exchanged their private phone numbers.
Maybe he's lying or maybe Millsap is. Or maybe there is just some confusion. But the entire premise of your post in the Blazer forum was predicated on a reporter's interpretation of what Millsap said (notice that Millsap wasn't quoted on this point in that article you posted). And we now have the agent saying something completely opposite. There are then certainly enough contradictory statements to conclude that we don't know whether Millsap talked to McMillan or not. So the threads in both the Blazer forum and this forum are based on something not known to be fact.

what's funny is you may have done a better job defining yourself then anybody 'over there'.
Just how is it that one poster = "they"?...and from that you make a broad insulting generalization of "half the fan base"?

Just to double check I emailed Siler and he told me that Paul said he never talked to Pritch or Nate. I dont care about the whole is Portland dirty angle. I just found it very interesting that Sap said that. I just dont see why Millsap would make it up or need to lie. His contracted was matched and its over. In most RFA cases where the deal is matched players talk about there experience talking to the other team. I however can totally see why his agent would lie. Remember neither of his agents are professional in the least bit.
