I don't know if anyone saw the HOF speeches last night, but Jordan was a mess. I thought this article by Adrian Wojnarowski put it brilliantly. Curious about your thoughts.

i liked Sloan's speach and im a Sloan hater....didnt see stockton...thought Jordan came across bad. I was surprised most by the fact that Sloan put Carlos Boozer as one of the great players he has coached. Not sure if he mentioneed DWiLL. Sloan playing mind games with Boozer?

Sloan did mention D Will just before Boozer. I agree, I thought Sloan's was good and Stockton's was great. He had a great sense of humor.

I loved both speeches,
You could tell Jerry Sloan did not want to be there, but the audience was eating up everything he said, his story was pretty amazing...lots of respect for him there. Then Stockton with his jokes and laughs got the crowd going.
I agree on MJ's speech...it was all him, other people tried to challenge me, admits sometimes it was all me and not team sort of thing to win. He's a great player don't get me wrong but his speech was...just there - a better Jazz day for sure.

Ya Stockton and Sloan both had awesome speeches. I just about fell off of my couch when I heard Sloan mention Boozer. I don't recall him mentioning AK though...
MJ's speech was interesting. I lost some respect for him but the more I thought about it the more I can understand where he is coming from. He did come across vengeful and bitter but that's just him I guess. Still an amazing talent.

That's pretty much how I felt the whole time watching it. He seems incredibly lonely and spiteful. How sad and lonely it must be at the top...
On the other hand, all the other speeches were very well done. I think Stockton surprised everyone when with his stand up routine, that was way unexpected. Sloan was Sloan, though it was nice to listen to an old man that has been through it all just talk. You can learn a lot from a guy like Sloan. Both were very quick to transfer their success to those around them, and I have immense respect for that.

I loved both Stockton's and Sloan's speeches. I saw bits of their personalities, I dont think I had ever seen before. It was an amazing glimpse into the lives of two amazing men who have provided me with a lifetime of great memories.
As for Jordan...his speech reminded me why I never really liked the guy. His speech was the worst of the night, and he made himself look like an ass.

I have been a Blazer fan for years living in Oregon, but I was born in Utah and spent some high school at West and my college years at the U of U. During those years in SLC I grew to really appreciate John Stockton and Karl Malone. Watching them play was just amazing, no matter if you hated them or loved them, one thing is certain, they played the game the way it was supposed to be played. I remember rooting really hard for the Jazz in '96 and '97. To this day I believe John Stockton was the best point guard to ever play. He is the epitome of what a basketball player should be on and off the court. A brilliant player, a family man and just a great person. Congratulations to John Stockton, the Jazz and the state of Utah for having a great citizen among them.
I agree that Jordan's speech was not very good, in fact it made me lose just a little bit of respect for the guy.
My favorite speech by far was Stockton's. Good luck this season.

Jerry Sloan is so awesome.
He's the only man in the world who could beat up Clint Eastwood.

Yea Jordan came off as a total a-hole.. He even complained about the $1,000 tickets to ther ceremonies. Cheap, spiteful, lonely old man, kind of like Ted Williams. Was it just me but during the speech there were periods that Jordan was Sniffling, I think the guy was Coked out, his eyes looked bloodshot, the guy was definitley high imo. But yeah his new wife is smoking hot.
Stockton's speech was the best. We never got see this great side of him during his playing days. Sloan is a bad ass.

You know, as much as I'd love to have those two championships, I'd much more proud to have guys like Stockton, Sloan and Malone be my idols growing up and show that they are good people and worthy of real respect then to have a couple of rings and some jack ass represent something I looked up too.
Kudos to John and Jerry.

I'm with you on Stockton.
I think I'm with you on Sloan.
But I'm not sure Karl Malone fits into the "good people" category. He's certainly not someone I'd encourage kids to emulate.

Congratulations to you guys. I really enjoyed watching Stockton. I never seen him talk much. So to see him speak and be so emotional,.........I got much respect for him as a player and as a person.
I liked Jerry also. Tough old man. And a excellent coach.
Dave was great but MJ, thats something else.
Congrats again Utah.
