OT: Morris Almond

He is on the Magic's training camp roster fighting for the last spot I guess.

Is he decent? Any upsides? He'd be a 14th man at best with junk playing time, but just wondering if he is even good enough to beat out Linton Johnson, or maybe give JJ Redick a run for his money as a backup or something. Thanks.

Well, he's a better athlete then JJ. He's bigger, can jump higher and is probably a bit faster.

He would really benefit from the open shots that D12 would open up for him.

He can't pass though, and his defense seems to get good reviews some places and horrible reviews others.

I think the most telling fact is that he was benched during the NBDL finals, and he might be the best player in D-League history.

Also he couldn't make the Knicks training camp roster so...

Agree with everything Bat said.
In the few games he played for the Jazz, he looked lost most of the time and took some horrible shots. He did have some good defensive moments in a couple of games against good SGs. He can hit the 3 and has some athleticism. If he can get his head straight, he can become a decent rotation player, but since you guys are contending and have a pretty deep roster already, I doubt he makes the team.

Yeah the Knick fans were talking like he was on the team. He'll be lighting it up for the Tulsa 66ers in no time.

He couldn't make the Knicks squad but he might make Orlando's... so therefore the Knicks must be a better team than Orlando. OMG the Knicks fans are right! Trade the pick now while it still has value!!!

I'm a Jazz fan, as well as a Magic fan, so I've seen him play almost as much as anyone. Utah has gone REALLY soft the last few years, and I'm not sure if that rubbed off on Almond or not, but he plays defense with absolutely no heart. He has a decent offensive game that could develop into something pretty solid, and his athletic ability is pretty impressive, but his defense is what will probably stop him from ever being even a spot starter in the league. I think Orlando would be wise to sign him, and see if he can't learn some things from this talented roster and be ready to play some minutes in a couple of years, but as of now, I would be worried if he was getting regular playing time on one of my teams.

Almond isn't anything Brewer can't contain. Besides I think he's too mentally soft to make it in the league.

Mormond = one trick pony = Career bench warmer at best.

I had somewhat high hopes for this guy, and I feel bad for saying this, but he just isn't good enough to make it in this league. I can't feel too bad for him, however, since I believe he'll do just fine playing in Europe some day.
