Kirilenko looks good

Post#1 » by carrottop12 » Fri Sep 25, 2009 8:12 pm

I saw AK at Einstein Bagels today and he was noticeably larger.

His chest and arms are quite a bit bigger, and he says he's gained 20 lbs.

Looks like he is going to be getting some time at PF and his new muscle should really help. I am really excited to see him in uniform.

He will lose it when the season gets underway imo. Hope he keeps it on though.

I am still going to stick to my prediction that Andrei with 20 more pounds on him playing power forward will return to his old form. I think this is another sign that a Boozer trade is coming.

I have given up on kirilenko. He does not work in the offseason. Even his comments that he is afraid that this weight will slow him down still proves he doesnt get it.

The interviews with him he was saying that he wasn't running much at all in the off season because he didn't want to lose weight. He said he was working with the trainers to keep the weight on once he starts running again.

There is nothing wrong with being worried about extra weight slowing you down. If you have ever played serious basketball and have gained lots of muscle mass in the off season you know that it can slow you down if your not careful. Especially if you haven't been running much, I'm sure AK will do fine but it may be difficult for him to find that perfect balance since he has never bulked up this much in a single off season.

No concerns about Kirilenko's body here; the stronger the better if you ask me (even if he acutally lose a little bit of speed...). AK's mental toughness (or lack thereof) is the thing to worry about. If he's mind is right he will be right.

I think it's going to affect his shooting. He said that was one of the reasons he didn't want to gain weight.

Let's just hope he plays closer to the basket, since his shooting wasn't ever that great anyways.

Yeap... Kirilenko's shooting is affeted anyway...
I see it backwards.... last season his shots started looking good enough, but he could not mantain it; probably his weakened body had something to do with it... may be a better body helps nore than hurt his shot.

To the guy who said that this has happened for years now: No, it hasn't. AK has never gone into the off season with a weight lifting or gaining regimine. He has never come into camp having gained more than a few pounds over the summer. So, no, this doesn't happen every year.

As to whether this will mean anything for his game...who knows? I am optimistic, but AK has let me down too many times to get my hopes up too far. I like what I see. Now let's see it play out on the court.

It's a good thing it happened in training camp and it seems it's a minor injury. I wish all Jazz players were like your beloved Carlos and never got injured. Oh, wait...
