Preseason Injuries: CJ Miles tears thumb ligament

Post#1 » by UTJazzFan_Echo1 » Mon Oct 5, 2009 3:15 pm

According to Locke, DJ and PK....CJ Miles tore a ligament in his left hand thumb today after falling in practice and may have to return to the states for surgery.

Don't know much about thumb injuries like that, how long can we expect him to be out for? How big of lose will it be starting the season? What will our rotation be if CJ is out for an extended period of time?

Can we just not play in pre-season games? I'm so sick of these injuries before the season even starts.

Making that Boozer for Hamilton deal look better.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Doesnt sound like season ending but I question his effectiveness when he is able to come back.

This sucks, is it on his shooting hand? This was gonna be the year he breaks. This could set him back longer than just the healing time.

On an unrelated not everyone should go here and vote for 1975 Dodge Van. Thanks.

Jazz twitter is now saying he has a ruptured thumb ligament, requires surgery.

I'm also wondering what the timetable is on that..that seems pretty serious. Korver's knee is still messed up and Fesenko sprained a heel. Dang.

Too bad, he was looking promising this year. I hope it heals quick, and he gets back to his newly motivated self.

It doesn't necessarily begin. The thing I hope is that Jerry doesn't fall too much in love with Dupree.

He is in love with Wes Matthews. However, the intersting thing to ask is whether Jerry is more likely to give Dupree some backup SG/SF minutes or play Ronnie Price with Deron some.

I dont think Dupree has an advantage over Matthews. Its going to come down to who plays better.

Dupree is bigger at about 6'8". Matthews is only about 6'5" but he can actually make 3 pointers.

That sucks. It seems CJ had put a ton of work this offseason and might finally become the player we thought he could be. Brewer, AK and Korver can fill in just fine for him though. What scares me is if Korver's knee injury becomes a lingering thing. Can you imagine having a rotation of AK, Brewer and Dupree? Teams would just dare us to shoot and pack the paint all game long.

Interesting indeed. If Korver/Miles are out at season start, Sloan will first try Price off-guard.

I think it will be Brewer and AK myself.

And people still need your votes for Dodge Van in this thread!

A crappy start for Jazz with Miles out. Who knows how bad Korver really is? Jazz could keep 2 free agents now to replace both Harpring & Miles. Price to play some 2? Maybe trade Harpring for a shooting guard now! Fesenko Hurt, also-another Center out There?

Miles probably won't be out that long. Brewer and Korver can handle the job for a few weeks. AK, Price, Dupree. I don't see this affecting the roster too much.

as terrible an injury this is, i feel more bad for cj than i am worried about the jazz. ak and millsap will play the 3 as well as korver. i dont think there will be much, if any, dropoff as far as the team goes.

this was supposed to be cj's year though. this is not a good start for him. can cj still be in contention for MIP?
