Millsap starting SF?

Sloan has indicated he maybe willing to start Millsap at SF. Jazz lineup would be as follows:

PG Williams Price Maynor
SG Brewer Korver Price
C Memo Boozer Kosta Fess
PF Boozer Millsap AK-47
SF Millsap AK-47

Teams could really sag in on the Jazz except Memo. Rebounding and Defense likely would be better. Millsap guard Carmelo would be tough match up both ways. I would not be against lineup where Millsap is at SF if Brewer go to bench and korver start bc need outside shooting to balance out the offense.

It is just beyond me why Boozer is still on this team unless Jazz plan on resigning him, otherwise he has no buniess being here for just one season. Seems like the Jazz are bending over backwards to appease Boozer. He wants to start so Jazz allow him to start and move Millsap, who is playing better, to SF or bench. He wants to be traded this summer so Jazz try to trade him but find he has no trade value. What Boozer wants the Jazz try to give him. What has Boozer given this organization? Nothing!!!

Completely ignoring the anti-Boozer ranting...

Every Millsap thread makes me think fondly back on that one troll who assured us repeatedly that Paul's absolute ceiling was Malik Rose. Good times.

Or the Craig Smith and Chuck Hayes fans.

I have yet to be convinced of Sap being able to productively play 3 night in and night out in this league. As for right now, I don't like the idea, but if it turns out that he can guard the premier 3's in the league, then I will eat crow and enjoy it.

I can tell you one thing about Sap though. I am really glad to see his production isn't falling off in the pre-season just because he is one of the big dogs now. I can't say the same for #5...

I was on the edge too, but the second I found out he had no bunnies here I freaked.

Does he have to have bunnies? It's like a Playboy Mansion...

I have to yet to see that he can even guard 3's consistently. Sounds like a way to get Paul in foul trouble to me.

I'm a Chuck Hayes fan, but I have always been a big supporter and advocater of Millsap. I think that there are two things stopping him from being a good small forward, his size and his shooting touch. I think that a rotation with Boozer, Millsap, and Okur is going to work fine.

Also, @ HolyTeledo: Every thread being a "Boozer Bash" is getting old. Can you not make any new topics about it? Everyone is frustrated with him to varying degrees, but there is no denying his talent.

Actually, once we get C.J. Miles back (who was getting rave reviews from other players on the team) I believe this will be our depth chart:

PG: Deron Williams, Ronnie Price, Eric Maynor
SG: C.J. Miles, Kyle Korver, Wesley Matthews
SF: Paul Millsap, Ronnie Brewer, Ronald Dupree
PF: Carlos Boozer, Andrei Kirilenko, Goran Suton
C: Mehmet Okur, Kosta Koufos, Kyrylo Fesenko

This team would have ridiculous depth. I put C.J. in the starting lineup over Brewer because Miles is more of a true shooting guard while Brewer is a "tweener"/natural small forward. Ronnie Brewer could come of the bench as the sixth man when Boozer or Millsap exits the game. Williams and Miles would give the Jazz great perimeter play from the guard positions. Millsap and Boozer would give the them scoring and rebounding from the forward positions. Okur would give them inside/outside play, rebounding, and defense from the center position. Utah also would have one of the best if not the best bench in the league with Price, Korver, Brewer, Kirilenko, and Koufos. Maynor and Suton will probably be sent to the D-league.

- Maynor won't be D-Leaguer; coaching staff always carried 3 active PG; kind of a divine (coaching staff) commandement..
- No team can carry 16 man under contract at season start...
- Probably only one of camp invitees will make the cut (if the Jazz do not decide to go after a vet wing)

My guess is the roster/depth chart to start the season is as follows.

Deron/Price/Maynor
Brewer/Matthews/Miles*
Kirilenko/Korver/Harpring*
Boozer/Millsap/Koufos
Okur/Fesenko

* = Injured

And the Jazz will leave an open spot to sign someone else if needed, or to leave a 2 for 1 trade in a potential Boozer trade.

By December however my guess is the rotation looks like this.

Deron/Maynor/Price
Brewer/Korver/Matthews
Miles/Kirilenko/Harpring*
Boozer/Millsap
Okur/Koufos/Fesenko

With Price and Matthews seeing the least amount of time, and no Harpring obviously.

I think we may see Price & DWill on the floor together against smaller backcourts, especially while Miles is out.

With a bunch of new good young guards out there (Jennings, Flynn, Curry, Holiday, Teague, Lawson, Collison, Douglas...) the Jazz will find themselves facing small backcourts more than ever, so my guess is Sloan will give it a try or two at Williams/Price this season.
