The panther and the snake represent a panther and a snake, respectively.

"D-Will" is what is known as a nickname: a descriptive name given in place of or in addition to the official name of a person, place or thing*.

The basketball represents his love for basketball, and the state of Texas may or may not have something to do with the fact that he grew up there.

I believe the Cougar represents the High School he went too, the snake is simply a cover up for other tattoo's, and the Texas thing was for where he grew up.

The flaming basketball was because he is gay.

It's really the only think I dislike about him. They are just big and splotchy. Tasteful tattoos are good, but are a rarity in the NBA. It is really a trend that is very much the norm for the NBA, or NT(attoo)A if you will. There are few stars that don't have them (or have some that aren't easily visible). The only I can think of off the top of my head are Wade, Nash, Dwight, and I think Gay doesn't either. You can probably add all the internationals in there too. I used to think Rodman was a lunatic because of his, but now several players have worse ones.

Anyway, this is all my opinion, like someone said on Kfan, they are a fad that never went out of style.

I didnt mind DWill's tats before he went and "touched them up" to make them so dark and nasty.

An argument can be made that the tat craze started with Allen "The cAnswer" Iverson. Like most things that stemmed from him (corn rows, selfish play, skipping practice, retiring for not starting), it has had a negative impact on the league and its image IMO....

I still like them. I actually like them more now that he's touched them up and made them look better.

I say inks are only allowed for players who can play ball. chuckie atkinz is a scrub and he's tatted up like a (Please Use More Appropriate Word). d-will and a few others are exceptional inked up specimens.
