Boozer to Orlando for Gortat/Bass

Post#1 » by drivewayball » Sun Dec 13, 2009 10:06 pm

Orlando clearly needs a power forward to start beside Howard. Boozer would complement a starting five with Howard, Lewis, Carter and J. Nelson. Gortat and Bass aren't playing and aren't happy. A package involving those guys to the Jazz for Boozer could be worked out?

Yes for Okur, no for Boozer. Jazz can get more for Boozer.

Lol, no.

Gortat would be nice but his long term contract at the full MLE is a risky piece of business for a player who hasn't demonstrated an ability to be a full time starting center, and Brandon Bass is too similar to Millsap.

More than anything, Boozer is worth waaaaay more than that and Orlando would likely not be interested in anyway. A much better deal would be sending Memo there for Gortat and Ryan Anderson.

Because Orlando needs another scoring option down low for their wings to ignore.

Okur would be a good piece for the magic. Another shooter to kick the ball out to, solid rebounding, and he's got playoff experience.

Was thinking of the same trade but we don't really need Bass. Maybe add a third team?

No need to talk trades right now. Lets wait 2 or 3 weeks to see if this team is really clicking. We're 24 hous away from a very tough 3-1 week in which the Jazz played highly competitive ball for 14 of 16 quarters against 3 top tier teams.... just saying...

What about a trade of Boozer and Maynor for Diaw, Lexy and Dj Augustine. Gives you'll a backup pf with distrubution skills, a backup pg and Lexy.

Really? One of two 20-10 power forward in the entire league + a future starting (potentially 1 or 2 time all-star) point guard for 3 back ups?

That's worse than this thread's original trade idea.

If the Jazz do a trade they need to think star!!! They have assets to trade in Harpring, Korver, maybe Boozer, and NYK Pick. The Jazz really should look to get a great player and involve NYK pick as the Jazz have too many young players already.

I would try hard for Duncan!!!!

if a no go then go for Iggudala from sixers knowing that they would only do that if you take on Brands bad contract.

Finally I would consider McGrady & Hmilton
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

Why would the Jazz want two players who are not getting any minutes on the Magic? Not to mention that they play positions in which the Jazz are pretty much secure for the next number of seasons.......

Just a stupid idea.......

And that Charlotte trade is just horrible......

With Okur as your man, you are pretty much secure at the center position? I don't even know how to respond to that other than to say I disagree wholeheartedly.]

It's not like Gortat is an upgrade there.

Regardless this is a terrible trade suggestion. In fact this whole thread should just be nuked so as not to waste anyone else's time.

I definitely wouldn't do the trade involving Boozer, but if Orlando was willing to trade Gortat/Anderson for Memo like erudite 23 suggested, I'd be very intrigued. So far, it looks like we made a mistake by extending Memo, who's looking like something of a weak link on our team. Gortat doesn't play much, but that's not overly surprising or worrisome considering that he plays behind Dwight and that he's not a good fit playing alongside Dwight in an offense where spreading the floor is the preeminent concern. When he's gotten minutes, he's played very well and he could potentially give us the big defensive and rebounding presence we need in the middle. Anderson might not be as good as Memo, but he's much cheaper and younger and would give us pretty much the same thing. Obviously, this is all hypothetical and improbable, but I'd seriously consider that deal. A Boozer/Gortat/Millsap/Anderson frontcourt would be solid.

It's hard to say right now. I think everyone associated with the Jazz is seeing how much better Boozer can be than Okur. And with Okur's big contract extension that he just signed, I think everyone kind of has buyers remorse.

In the long run I don't think Pietrus and Gortat make the Jazz better, but Gortat's presence could really benefit the Jazz in the paint.

Gortat has been playing like garbage lately, and I think Pietrus just duplicates what the Jazz already have in Matthews and MIles.

I say no on this trade, but only because I think the Jazz can get a more ideal fit in a trade with Okur.

I don't think Utah is gonna trade Boozer anyway. I mean the guy has an expiring contract and is pretty money driven so the receiving team would have to be willing to give him a huge contract which he's probably not worth (13-15mill. type) so that most teams aren't gonna offer fair value for Boozer. On the other hand the Jazz can't trade Boozer "just so they get something back" because that'd seriously endanger their playoff chances. It'd take a team willing to pay the price for an borderline all-star player who could be gone within 3 months.
If the Jazz are in the thick of the playoff race would they trade Boozer for a young project who is only a rotation player right now and not a star thus making the Jazz possibly miss the playoffs altogether?Don't really think so.

Just for the **** of it:

Utah trades Boozer/Okur to New Orleans for Okafor/West

Okafor is overpaid at 11mill. a year but it isn't that terrible--he's usually a 15/11/2 Center with decent defense. West isn't having a great year but he can put up 20/8 and has a good contract.

New Orleans gets a big expiring while not throwing the year away. Can still make the playoffs while saving a lot of cash.

Utah has a nice frontcourt with Kirilenko,Millsap,West,Okafor and can add a star guard with the draft pick.

Boozer to GSW

Maggette, Randolph, and George to Utah.

Can add Harpring or Korver for Turiaf if they want more expiring to sweeten the deal.

Deron/Maynor/Price/George
Brewer/CJ/Korver
Maggette/AK/Randolph
Millsap/Turiaf/Koufos
Okur/Fesenko

All of a sudden the Jazz can play line ups that actually play defense, have length and athleticism. Maggette has long been on the Jazz' radar, Randolph gives the Jazz serious length and insurance if AK leaves, also has excellent potential still, and Turiaf adds some of that nastiness the Jazz have been missing.

I'd definitely do this deal. Maggette's deal is a bit long, but I think he'd be a good fit in Utah.
