We all know the football stories got old, and he spent a good amount of time injured, but in his best Jazz season's he was a stud and he's the closest thing to muscle this team has had since Karl Malone.

Sad to see his career end like this as he could have been a huge addition to some of these Jazz squads. When he was playing he could be very fun to watch. I wish more Jazz players played the way he did.

My best memory is the Kings game against Artest. Dude had a knack for getting under players skins in the best way.

I loved him and I hated him, but looking back, I'll definitely appreciate the good he did for our team when he was in his prime.

The three pointer to beat Houston is my favorite Harpring moment. He should have been an all-star that first year with the Jazz. He sure made us forget Donyell Marshall rather quickly. Too bad the body wouldn't cooperate, because we really could use the toughness.

I have fond memories of Harpring's first few seasons...

(Having said that, he'll be waived and probably back with the Jazz doing commentary.. so I don't expect much to change)

I will always look back at that Free throw line jumper he had.i loved when we ran that play for him.being from Rhode island i loved seeing him battle with Paul Pierce.he always got into little fights because of the way he played.We can replace his shooting, but we have yet to replace his leadership.Thanks Matty boy for always grabbing those rebounds down low with the bigs and giving us the toughness all these years.I'll miss you #15.

They just dont make basketball players like Matt anymore, err.... or I guess they play football. But yeah Harpring was a big part of this team and will be missed.

I was at this game, loved every minute of this

I just loved seeing the looks on the other team's players faces when he would check in. It was always a look of either terror or "here we go again".

The base line was his home. He was a very effective player up until last year, when he was probably better than he looked when you considered some basketball IQ intangibles.

I am really said to hear he's not with The Jazz anymore.

I have so good memories about Matt playing for The Jazz.

As everybody knows here, I am a huge Matt Harpring fan. I like him as much as I like Karl Malone and John Stockton, and that says a ton. I do also remember his three pointer against The Rockets, Yao Ming was in front of him, trying to block the shot. How tall would be Yao at that moment? Incredible.

His emotions after hiting that shot who tied the game and The Jazz eventually won it was amazing, showing how much he cared about the game.

Matt Harpring desires is what makes me follow a team. He plays with his heart, and thats the most important thing to me, really. I apreciate much more a player like him than a flashy one.

With that being said, I know he had his flaws, I d never say he was an outstanding player, but what he did on the court, its sure a great thing for a fan like me.

I will miss Harpring on the court, definetely. But he gave me good memories that I am really glad that I got them.

Thanks Harpring. I hope you come back and work with the coaches, somehow.

Aside from everything already written in this thread, one of the things that I will remember most about Harpring was one game about three years ago during the 06-07 season when he had the ball inside and was trying to post someone up. D-Will was at the scorer's table waiting to check in. He then walks back to the bench and Harp passes him the ball while he's walking back to the bench on the sidelines. The look on D-Will's face was priceless. At the time, the other Jazz board that I posted at was all over Harpring for that, but I blame D-Will too for walking back on the sidelines when we had the ball. I could not find this on Youtube unfortunately.

One of my favourites, never backed down, physical, tough & a model citizen in the mould of Stock. He will be missed. A great role model and a great player!

Hey Matt, thanks for wearing the knee pads for so many years.

Jerry got his jollies, and it guess it doesn't really matter that we just lost the best backup PG we've had for years.

On second thought, **** you, Matt. Good riddance. You shoulda played football, loser.

Harp was a stud and a throwback to an attitude this team used to have and one that I didn't know the value of until it was gone. I certainly cringed everytime Harp attempted a layup, but his curl off the screen was money.

I wouldn't mind seeing Harp apart of the Jazz broadcasting team.
