Potential Signee's for the Jazz!

Post#1 » by carrottop12 » Thu Dec 24, 2009 12:52 pm

Just a list of free agent point guards who the Jazz could sign.

Alex Acker
Maurice Ager
Travis Diener
Juan Dixon
Jason Hart
Bobby Jackson
Brevin Knight
Tyronn Lue
Starbury
Chris Quinn
Sean Singletary
Jacque Vaughn
Mike Wilks

I'd like to see it in this order...

1. Dixon
2. Quinn
3. Diener
4. Lue

Thats actually not a terrible group of available players. The Jazz could also look at someone like Kevin Krueger if they just want to save money.

Dontell Jefferson looks like the likely candidate; a tall defensive minded combo guard with a modicum of NBA experience last year with the Bobcats, who also happens to already be in town as he's a member of the Utah Flash D-League team.

Hart is signed with the Timberwolves, Lue is retired and coaching with the Celtics, Quinn is with the Heat, Acker is signed in Italy and isn't really a point guard, Ager is awful and definitely not a point guard, Diener is with the Pacers, Dixon is not really a point guard, Bobby Jackson is retired and working for the Kings, and Singletary is signed with Caja Laboral in Spain.

My guess is the Jazz will be looking for an experienced PG, not another wing/combo guard. If something were to happen to Deron they wouldn't want the PG position left up to Ronnie Price and a D-League level combo guard.

If something happens to Deron, you're buggered either way, regardless of whether Dontell Jefferson or Juan Dixon is your 13th man.

They are going to get a 10 day contract guy, retired vets aren't making a comeback for a 10 day contract.

Somebody in another thread mentioned Antonio Daniels...I could see that happening. No $#@&ing way are we taking Jason Hart back under pretty much any circumstances whether he's a free agent or not. For the love of all that is good and holy, please take him off your list.

They have to sign someone within 9 days. They can't sign 10 day contracts quite yet, so they will sign an unguaranteed contract that they can cut the day before contracts are guaranteed. Then they will sign them to two consecutive 10 day contracts. Then after 10 days they will sign for the remainder of the season.

It' will be a d-leaguer and the fewer years they have played the less they can be paid. Remember they are paying double for whom ever they sign.

Where's the ever-reliable Howard Eisley when you need him?

If we're considering signing Jason Hart, we might as well just make Fesenko our 3rd PG.

You can go to 12 players for two weeks at a time, so they have until the 5th. It's probably not a coincidence that the 5th is the first day that 10 day contracts can be signed.

Would love it if Cassell were available.

Why, are we looking for assistant coaches?

Curtis Stinson, that's the player we need. Putting up 20 and 10 as a PG in the D-League. Not much of a shooter, but if he sticks to the passing, he's the kind of PG who we could use for the rest of the year.

Where's Dee Brown? I really liked him and wouldn't mind seeing him in a Jazz uni again. Plus he's BFFs with Dwill, is tight with rest of the team, and knows the system.

How do you know he's BFF? He may have slept with his high school sweet heat for all you know.

the main reason they got rid of him was to keep the "bad influence" on Deron. I'd be very excited to see Dee back in town, he's a cool dude

They didn't keep him for the same reason he can't even get time in Turkey! For what the Jazz needs are taking the best PG in the D-League is what's necessary.

Brown is playing for Avellino, here in Italy. He's doing fine.
