Jazz get Brand, go under Lux Tax

I know Brand has looked bad for Philly but I think in the right situation he's still better than Boozer.

Jazz send Boozer and Korver.

Jazz receive Brand

Why for Utah?

Jazz get Elton Brand who during his career has proven to be more of a banger than Boozer both offensively and defensively, he blocks shots down low, is a very smart player, and gives the Jazz a viable replacement for Boozer who will be gone in the off season. Also, the Jazz shed nearly 5 mil in salary and get under the Luxury Tax Threshold, saving them 5 million in salary, and an additional 5 mil in taxes this year alone.

Why for Philly?

Philly gets out from underneath Brand's contract as he is obviously not a good fit with the team, they get Boozer who will actually make them competitive for the rest of the season and should better fit with their up and down style of play. They get Korver back who they are familiar with and in the process get about 18 million in expiring contracts and get a good crack at the 2010 off season.

Honestly I think it's a pretty fair trade considering Boozer is gone for nothing and I believe Brand still has quite a few good years, especially playing in the Jazz system next to Deron.

Maybe since the Jazz were taking on such a big salary they could request one of Philly's young PG's back in the trade, especially if it was Jrue Holiday that'd be a huge steal, but I doubt Philly would go for that.

Cutting off the nose to spite the face? That's just adding another Kirilenko contract and tying the hands for years. Then what happened yesterday has to happen again. No way. I think giving up Boozer for a player like Travis Outlaw is a better option.

Boozer and Koufos for

Outlaw, Miller and Juwan Howard.

The thing is I actually think Brand has talent left and would produce at an all-star level in the Jazz system and could be worth his contract.

The Jazz really just need to get rid of Okur. The guy sucks now, and is costing way too much.

Sixers are desparate to get rid of Brand and they will pay dearly for a team taking him on.

I only take Brand only if Iguolda (spelling?) is part of a larger deal. I.e. Brand and Iggy for Boozer, Ak-47, and NYk pick. Sixers probably wont do it but I would if they would.

Hmm, if the Sixers were to decide to unload contracts, then that would be a good deal for both teams..

Okur/Fes/Koufos
Brand/Millsap
Igoudala/Brewer
Miles/Korver/Mathews
Williams/Price

Worst comes to worst, we got Millsap, if Brand doesn't work. We still need that 13th guy. We'd certainly be upgrading our defense. I wish we could unload Okur instead...

Brand/Fes/Koufos
Boozer/Millsap
Igoudala/Brewer
Miles/Korver/Mathews
Williams/Price

Yeah 6'9" is a pretty small center, but he can block like the best.

Right now it's a good deal. If the Knicks fall down like I think they will, not so much. Such a variable that pick is, not more than at any time they owned it.

Isn't Brand on a long bad deal?

Indeed, good sir, that would be correct!

Brands deal expires the summer of 2013, he makes $14,858,472 this year and the folowing years he makes $15,959,100, $17,059,728, $18,160,355. Brands contract is the definition of a poison pill, Jazz are better off just letting Boozer walk...

Brand = AK#2

This thread is going to look silly come Saturday night.

Brand makes AK look cheap. Brand was paid for his absolute best possible scenario, and has produced close to the worst possible scenario.

Good Lord, I wouldn't take that contract for anything.

I agree on Elton Brand. Agree that he would be a good man to obtain and that he is just getting back into form. The consummate professional. However, you can't just give expirings for him. It's the perfect opportunity to move Kirilenko's contract right now. Brand will be a great Jazz player.

I also move Okur to pick up Maggette and other considerations from Golden State. The Jazz do not have a wing or two guard that can drive through traffic to the basket at this time. Maggette can dribble drive at will. He will change the Jazz offense in a very positive way.

For the balance of the season .... Brand, Boozer, Maggette, Miles/Brewer. Williams. Millsap and Miles/Brewer off the bench. This team is much better than what the Jazz are putting on the floor now ... and cheaper. Having two rebounder/scorers like Brand and Boozer on the court, both requiring double teams most of the time, would be fun to watch.

Sir, it appears you have no concept of salary cap management.

Boozer and Ak47 are better than Igou and Brand...
And then they contracts are better...

How many overpaid former Dukies can we get?

This is a great deal. Then we could flip Brewer, Millsap and CJ for Peja Stojakovic and unload Deron in a deal for Stephen Jackson or Rip Hamilton.

As long as we're giving away guys with reasonable contract who are in their primes for toxic contracts, we might as well go full hog after it. The point is to be the best at what you do, no?
