Fire Sloan?

Post#1 » by rickbrunson » Fri Jan 1, 2010 12:00 am

I respect Jerry Sloan. He is a HOFer, and in his prime, took this team to back-to-back Finals. He is a legend.

However, things change. The Jazz have been mediocre this year and (let's face it) are not a threat to win a title, nor have they been a threat for the past decade.

I believe that Sloan wins a lot of games, but ultimately doesn't have what it takes to put a team in championship mode the way Jackson or Riley does. This team needs more fire from the sidelines, and I would love to see a more intense coach, because they definitely have the talent.

It is not enough to go 1st-2nd round every year. We need rings!

You think Phil Jackson displays fire on the sidelines? What have you been watching?

The hell with firing Sloan, fire Okur. That guy is a mess right now. Why is it that both AK and Okur got their money and decided to disappear. I'm not liking this team right now. Time to make a move because right now we are mediocre at best.

Another thing that pisses me off is why in the world do they even have T Mac on the all-star ballot? My hell he has played in 6 games? So T Mac will get in because of the fans and then D Will is the odd man out. It's amazing that since the first Dream Team, I believe only D Will and Laitner(sp) are the only two gold medalists without being an all-star first.

Sorry for the vent.

AK disappeared?

He played 19 minutes. How is that disappearing?

Play him or trade him O'Conner. Do something with this team!

Memo was awful tonight, but oh well, he "competed".

Agree rick.

I heard Harp needs a job.

Let's pay him to be coach, center, and small forward.

Matt is the GOD of B-Ball.

NBA teams should be allowed to fire players based on non-performance, just like any company with employees. It makes me sick to see guys like John Amaechi declare that they hate basketball and expect everyone to sympathize and excuse their horrendous laziness. Get a different ******* job if you aren't going to bring it. Most people would kill to be in your position.

Teams should be able to fire players and absorb what would have been their salaries, let them apply for worker's comp. like the rest of us.

I'm stating that AK hasn't been the same player since he got his max money.

He just signed an extension. You can't really fire a guy like him. The way this team is constructed they aren't a contender.

I'm a Laker fan and how dear you say fire Jerry Slone. I wish you worked for me so I can fire your ass. Your make me sick you dont get rid of a HOF coach like Slone because the team he has can't win, you get him the damn personel to compete within the Western Conference. Okur and Boozer is a nice front court for the regular season, but for the playoffs hell now. Boozer is a nice 20 and 10 guy I like Okur because of his range but one of the 2 has to go. I would get rid of Okur and bring in a defencive center the play next to Boozer to somewhat cover up his defencive woes.A ture Shooting Guard is neede too. Brewer and Korver arent getting it done. So before you go blaming the coach you need to look at the team first. It the team not Slone. Bottome Line is:

IF HE HASN'T BEEN FIRED IN THE PAST 20 YEARS( don't quote me on the 20 years) ODDS ARE HE WONT BE FIRED NOW. IHATE YOUNG FANS THAT KNOW NOTHING ABOUT NOTHING. I feel better now

The fact that you are 1. a Laker fan, and 2. can't even spell Jerry SLOAN's name correctly eliminates the validity of your comments here. Besides, the GM, Kevin O'Connor has been quoted often as saying Sloan has the final say in personnel decisions. Our HOF coach is most definitely responsible for the crap product we are seeing on the court right now.
