Trade Partners
Who are the best trade partners for the Jazz? Chicago seems like a good candidate. They have pieces we could use and an interest in a low post scorer.

Re: Trade Partners
this what i wrote in the race for the #1 pick.
lee nate darko for okur korver price and our first round pick,
OR lee milicic for okur brewer and our first round pick.
now, I'm not shopping lee anywhere else if I'm donnie.if we can't get that pick back, than we gotta march on to the playoffs.
boozer for kevin martin?
(I've been spending too much time here i'll go now)

Re: Trade Partners
I'm not big on sending your pick back. Especially if the best player we're getting is David Lee. We already have Boozer and Millsap.

Re: Trade Partners
I'm not gonna argue about the merits of lee, I'm not his agent, but put it this way, if we keep lee, we're going to make the playoffs.the only way we deal lee is for that pick + stuff we don't want.so you're basically faced with a couple of questions: what are the odds you'll get someone better than lee who fits your system to a t outside of the lottery? do you think you can move okurs contract for someone better? if you're confident that you can get both of those things, then i guess that deal is moot.

Re: Trade Partners
Lets just trade Boozer, Memo and AK to Houston for T-Mac, Landry, Ariza, Battier and Hayes. Give them the NY pick too.
Houston does this because once Yao comes back they will have the biggest lineup in NBA history with Yao, Memo, Boozer, AK and the one midget being Brooks. The will also have some money to throw around if they decide to not resign Boozer and AK's expiring next year could be useful.
Jazz do this because we swap our core out for one with experience, leadership and consistent work ethic.
But seriously...the Jazz are going to be lucky to get anything for anyone at this point because all the teams know how desperate the Jazz are going to be to dump some players to get under the tax.

No thanks on giving up our pick for any rental, and that includes David Lee. If we're really going to blow things up, we need long-term assets, not guys who could simply walk (or demand big new contracts) at season's end.

NY isn't going to make the playoffs, with or without Lee... Just wait til that SOS gets turned over on you, it's not gonna be pretty...

Word is, South Beach is ecstatic that they
won't be seeing Millsaps talents again this season...

Maybe I missed your sarcasm, but why the f_ck would a 20-15 Houston team trade 5 overachieveing rotation players for our assortment of expensive underachievers and a mid-first round pick?

i don't have the slightest idea what "that sos gets turned over on you" means.
@ loserx,
i can understand your apprehension, but my understanding is your gm wants to cut salary while still being competitive.i don't see how you can do that without getting expiring contracts in return.

Happy to get expiring contracts. Not happy to give up long-term assets like draft picks to get them. That's a big difference. The only way I want to give up a long-term asset for a short-term one is if the short-term one is SO GOOD that it brings us close to contending. I like David Lee, but that ain't him.

Re: Trade Partners
What about the Pacers? Something like Foster, Dahntay Jones, and Hansborough for Boozer and Fes?

Yes you definitely missed it.
Thoughts on Jeff Foster? I'm personally not a fan. Rather get Murphy since we need outside shooting

I'm chalking it up to the number of stupid trades that I've read on here in the last 10 days...

It means you have played one of the easiest schedules in the league so far. Your "Strength Of Schedule" is one of the lowest. Basically, once you start playing the tough games, then you can talk about the playoffs if you keep winning.

We need more outside shooting overall but less outside shooting from our four and five spots. Foster gives us someone that defends the paint and hopefully motivates the rest of the team to play defense. If I remember right, Jones is a good perimeter defender and can shoot the ball. Could possibly handle PG duties too. Hansbrough is a Sloan player through and through and is an affordable back-up. We lose a bit on offense but we upgrade defensively quite a bit. Indiana preserves their cap space and gets a player that helps them this season. Boozer gives them an inside presence offensively and pairs up with Hibbert nicely.

Thats a good trade. And I agree that having outside shooting is important, but I hate it when it comes from the 4/5 spots. Murphy would make the Jazz the absolute worst defensive team in the league.
I like the idea of an AK/MIllsap/Foster line up when we need hustle and defense.
As far as good trade partners it seems most teams that fit well with the Jazz are in the East which is a good thing. Indiana, Chicago, and Detroit seem to be the most obvious. And I'm sure the Jazz would love to make one of those teams better this year to help keep the Knicks out of the playoffs.

Re: Trade Partners
Trade with TOR
AK for Rasho (waive), Evans, Banks, Wright.
Rasho and Wright are expirings which will reduce your committed salary for 2010-2011 to $51M. Waive Rasho so that TOR can re-sign him for the min. Wright's a vet who can still play a bit on both ends of the floor.
Evans and Banks are expirings 2011. Evans provides you guys with a solid rugged PF that doesn't shoot the ball. Banks is a nice backup PG who plays solid D and at least to what Raps fan have seen, he's played a controlled game.

Re: Trade Partners
I don't know if anyone realistically wants AK and his contract
He'd have to go to a place where they can throw money around not sure Toronto is that place
34 million over 2 years is just too much to swallow

Re: Trade Partners
TOR's looking to make that next push. ACC is the 2nd best earning (per seat $) sports arena in North America and one of the best in attendance. Colangelo likes to take risks. Look at the Jermaine ONeal trade. That was an even bigger contract than AK that would've also ran for 2 seasons.
