CJ Miles vs. Wesley Matthews

Post#1 » by jazzfan1971 » Sat Jan 9, 2010 7:23 am

I'd rather give CJ's minutes to Matthews. I know CJ can occasionally blow up for 25, where Matthews probably can't, but, Matthews just seems to help the team more.

Plus going 0-7 tonight hasn't endeared him much to me either. CJ reminds me of Chris Morris. Maybe with a better attitude. But, I don't really like his game much.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Im for starting matthews because it seems he'll get his anytime hes out on the court. I think CJ is better asa spark off the bench because our bench is just so weak at shooting although maybe korver is coming along.

If only KOC knew that we would have Wes, we would let Miles go...

Last play of that game was kind of indicative on CJ's season

there just isn't a whole lot to his game, yes he show great athleticism and shooting from time to time but that's about it. and he seems satisfied now he doesn't have to work hard after getting the contract

should have let him walk instead of caving in from the pressure from D-will to match

You really want to add CJ's shooting to a already very good young thunder team?

shooting? what shooting? like said before, he occasionally shows consistency, but he's shooting 39% as our STARTING SHOOTING GUARD.

The comparison between him and Matthews isn't even close. Matthews WANTS to play, im tired of watching CJ sit on the perimeter clanking jumpers. He should be driving it in with his length and working for a better shot, cause lets face it, his jump shot is nothing to hang your hat on.

LOL, did you see the last play of the game last night?

This is all very frustrating as we watch the other 3 good teams in our division progressing, while we are digressing. Denver and Portland both had huge wins last night and the Thunder are playing very well right now. Ugh.... :x

I was really hoping that Miles would improve over the offseason, but if he looks the same as last year we need to dump him (right now I only get to see nationally televised games, so I haven't seen to much of him).

Bump.

Ok, I think this thread has potential even more so now. Obviously, we all love Matthews, but isn't it about time to show some love for CJ? He's quickly becoming a trusted go-to scorer by Sloan.

Who woulda thought?

Seriously, I can't remember the last time I hated a guy in a Jazz uni so much, but CJ has really turned me around

Yes....he's been a real surprise. He's so irritating. You can't count on him, but you also can't write him off. Every time you're ready to do either, he does something insane (either good or bad) to make you change your mind again.

It would be amazing for this team if he finally just really blossomed and became the 15/5/3/48%/40%/85% guy that he is capable of being.

If CJ could go 13/4/2/1 45%/38%/80% he'd be a very good addition to this team. That'd take quite a jump in everything however.

CJ reminds me of giricheck, always hoping for better.. hate to say that but some days he's hitting shots..some days he's bumbling the ball, can't defend and can't hit anything.

Giricek and CJ are exact opposites. CJ has all the talent in the world but doesn't work hard enough to be the player he can be. While Giricek had not much talent but worked very hard on his shooting to make it in the NBA.

I heard Locke mentioning some incredible stats on Wesley. Since the trade, he has been shooting something like 52/49/89, and has been getting progressively better with time. In the last 5 games he has been something like 57/52/93. I'm not rock solid on the numbers, so that is ballpark. Those are incredible stats for an undrafted rookie. The Jazz organization has scored a massive hit with picking up Wesley and sticking with him.

I was shocked that they wanted Wesley shooting the free throws down the stretch tonight. He made em both, but, I was worried teh pressure would get to teh rook.

nah.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."
