Boozer or Ginobili

Post#1 » by drivewayball » Sat Jan 9, 2010 2:37 pm

Holy smokes, this actually makes real sense.

SAS are hurting badly or another big man to give Duncan support inside. The McDyess thing just hasn't worked out very well. The Jazz could use a multi-talented vet like Manu to stabilize the team and replace CJMiles minutes and help with leadership. Both Carlos and Manu are expirings.

While the trade is more important to SAS at this point, it is the Jazz that save a couple million in salary/luxury tax. Where is the real downside to either team?

Downside to the Jazz is helping a division opponent get better and going big for small. I don't see Manu fixing the team problems and saving a little money this year isn't what Randy Rigby said is the concern this season. In fact the Jazz are still willing to take on salary this year if it helps the team. I don't see them being willing to dump all the talent they would have to in order to get under the luxury tax level this year.

My thinking is that Ginobili helps the Jazz be a better team this year, helps the Jazz move Millsap and Kirilenko into greater roles, and possibly generates more interest in the team by Jazz supporters. Boozer will be gone next year but Sloan will continue to use him in a primary role as long as he is with the team.

Ginolili is way past his short prime. Not nearly as helpful as carlos. Also SA is in the same CONFERENCE not division big dif. I would rather let Loozer walk.

It's not guaranteed Boozer is gone next year. Miami, Chicago might sign Bosh and Stoudamre. Then where will Boozer go? New Jersey? Just like this year Boozer may have to "settle" for the Jazz.

Not guaranteed but the jazz have said he is not in the future plans. He wants the best financial situation, this will not be in utah imo.

That may have changed when he decided to opt in.

Word is, South Beach is ecstatic that they
won't be seeing Millsaps talents again this season...

It's not necessarily true that the Jazz will lose Boozer for nothing if they don't trade him before the deadline or sign him to an extension. A sign-and-trade involving Boozer would still be attractive to a lot of teams.
