Why not David West?

This deal make sense on all levels for all teams...

Houston gets: Kirilenko, Miles, and Wright
New Orleans gets: Boozer
Utah gets: West and McGrady

Houston gets the young prospects they are looking for and one use to play at an all-star level. This is one of the better deals that Houston would get for McGrady.

New Orleans gets an expiring contract with a player that will keep them competitive till the season is over.

Utah gets a player that can average 20 points/10 rebounds in West which I think West fits in perfectly with the pick'n'roll system with PG and PF, and plus we get major cap relief at the end of the season with McGrady's expiring contract, so we can sign a wing player that can average 15 points/5 assists and/or both rebounds and assists in the offseason.

With a lineup of

Williams/Brewer/McGrady/West/Okur will keep us very competitive and gives us a different look. Maybe a look that can give us a good push into the postseason.

Interesting.

The only hold up I see is New Orleans not wanting to give up Julian Wright in addition to West, but honestly that's a pretty fair deal.

David West isn't as good as Carlos Boozer, but the 20 million in cap relief at the end of the year would be outstanding.

The Jazz do give up a lot of production in Boozer and Kirilenko, but lets look at the line up.

Deron/Price/Gaines
McGrady/Korver
Brewer/Matthews
West/Millsap
Okur/Fesenko/Koufos

That's a good line up, and I honestly can't say I think that team is any worse for wear when it comes to making or succeeding in the playoffs than this team is in it's current state. Plus it gets the Jazz under the cap for next year I believe. Houston gets some talent back for McGrady, and doesn't have to take on too much salary other then for next year. Kirilenko fits in really well with what they are trying to down there right now also.

I give this trade an A+. Nice work.

I don't see NOs motivation for doing this. They will want back a young keeper. The Jazz just seem to be an extraneous middle man here.

What's West's Contract? TBH, i think West is a downgrade from Booz but any deal that gets rid of CJ Miles is fine in my book.

Houston would not do this deal. They do not want the to pay Kirlinko that kind of money when McGrady expires this year.

Boozer and Miles for McGrady might work.

People complain about how Boozer settles for jumpers, has anyone seen West? 52% of Boozer's shots are jumpers. Now look at West, 65% of his shots are jumpers! Boozer also shoots 2% better on his jumpers. Not to mention West gets half as many DREB's that Boozer gets down on the block. The only positive is that we free up time for Matthews, Korver, Price, and possibly Gaines.

That does nothing for the Jazz.

I can't see Houston trading for 3 small forwards when they have Ariza and Battier.

Furthermore I don't see why the Jazz do this deal. I think if they trade AK it's because they plan on signing Boozer to an extension or re-signing him in the offseason. If Houston would do this deal I would think they could be talked into some variation of AK for McGrady that didn't involve the Jazz swapping Boozer for West with New Orleans.

It saves some money. I think McGradys deal is being covered mostly by insurance
