Re: Gaines for the season
He earned it with guts and defense... and making James look foolish out there in the middle of nowhere, doing nothing, with the certainty the game was over... priceless.
Another not so minor thing... teammates seem to have trusted him from day one... that reflects an attitude...

Yeah, this was a good decision, even in limited minutes he looks like he belongs in the NBA........

Re: Gaines for the season
I'm glad for him... I liked more Maynor... but Price is playing lately real good as the 2nd PG of the team.. so I'm alright.

Re: Gaines for the season
I honestly thought that Maynor, besides the few games Deron was out, did not look significantly better than Gaines did. Maynor had a tendency to force his shot a little too much, but had better passing ability.
Besides, he gave our fans a Top 20 moment in franchise history, so that alone bought him the rest of the season.

Re: Gaines for the season
Maynor WHO??????????
I like Gaines!! I think he will be with the club beyond this season.
The one thing with Maynor was with his talent, you knew at some point the kid would get/want a deal to start for another team.
Gaines coming from the D-league might just be happy as a clam just to be in the NBA.

Re: Gaines for the season
an instant fan favorite, the FO would be stupid if they didnt sign him for the rest of season. He was very fortunate that he got a chance to play as soon as he came on board with this team with Deron and Ronnie P's injuries. Everything looking good for Gaines, hope he can keep up his hot streak.

Re: Gaines for the season
The thing I love about Gaines is that he plays gritty defense. He loves to get up in the face of the other PG and just hassle him. Sure he draws a couple extra fouls doing so, but it also puts pressure on the backup PG that can lead to mistakes. He will be solid at the backup for a long time, and cheap too.

Word is, South Beach is ecstatic that they
won't be seeing Millsaps talents again this season...

Re: Gaines for the season
Gaines is same player as Price....A SG playing PG who hustle but has no natural PG skills whatsoever. PGs have a natural ability to set up other players and get more enjoyment out of an assist than scoring a basket, while Gaines and Price are scorers trying to learn the position. Glad hes here but if he missed that last second shot, he probably would not be here as the Jazz would have saved a few bucks signing several players to 10 day contracts.
Maynor is a PG with the skills therefore. These types of PGs are hard to find as more and more PG position is becoming a scoring position and the westbrooks and other shoot first PGs of the NBA are the trend. The Jason Kidd and John Stockton PGs which pass first are a rare breed.

Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!
