Boozer for Kevin Martin ... doesn't it just make sense?

Sacramento has money for next season to sign Boozer long term, esp. if they move Martin's contract. The Kings desperately need a star power forward and they aren't going to land Stoudemire or Bosh. Boozer just fits on that team ... which would seem to have a bright future with new star Tyreke Evans.
Add Martin to the Jazz roster and things open up for everybody else ... esp. DWill.
Trade requires an additional minor part from Sacramento.

I think Kings would be down but at this point I honestly believe Jazz FO is gonna make a run at Booz this offseason

I like this trade more than the AK for Martin idea that was floating around. A lot of people would say that it all depends on whether the Kings feel Booz would resign with them. Which I see as unlikely, but Booz will go to whomever is gonna pay him the most.
Even if Booz doesn't resign with the Kings it still frees up enough cash to go out and sign one max player. Or a great player and some help. eg: David Lee and Ronnie Brewer(Just an example)
The biggest downside to this deal would be Martin making around $35 million over the next three years. Which means we'd be paying a majority of our cap to the two players in our backcourt.
It'd be a tough decision to make. If the Jazz could pry Hawes or Thompson from the Kings that would help sway my vote.
Ultimately, I'd rather have Caron Butler. He has a far better contract and does a lot more on the court. Not as prolific a scorer by any means, but I think he is more what the Jazz need than Kevin Martin is.

Kevin Martin is talented streetballer and a bit of ball hog so I don't see how it would help Deron Williams. I think it's athletic center who could throw down alley-oops and block shots who could help the team.

Hmm, I don't know, sure he puts up 20-23 ppg, but his production would probably be down to 15-18ppg in a Jazz uniform. A guy like Korver could probably put up 15ppg if he were getting 36mpg.

Totally disagree. Martin would be a mortal lock for 20+ on this team. The dude is one of the best in the league at drawing fouls and hitting 3s, both of which this Jazz team is built to get him. In Sacto he's been a 25ppg guy when his game has been clicking. With us he'd likely be 21 or 22 a game, but his efficiency would be even higher. I think he'd have a good shot to crack 65% TS--and insanely high number--in our system. The only problem with him is defense. According to different reports I hear him being named alternately as a terrible defender or just a bad one. Now, if we were able to replace Boozer with a guy who is a good help defender, a guy who is athletic and could block shots, then that would more than make up for the hit our D would take. Millsap does that as a sub, but as a full time player his defensive intensity went down a bit last year. He's a solid guy, but next to Okur we still wouldn't have a good enough interior rotation to make up for the sloppiness of K-Mart.
I like this trade, but it would have to be accompanied by moving Memo and getting a real center in there. If we could find a way to K-Mart and Anderson Varejao while unloading Boozer, Memo, Korver and someone like Brewer or CJ, that would remake our team and immediately turn us into a true contender, imo. Problem is that its not likely to happen.

Not a bad idea BUT the Jazz need to reduce salary so I dont think they would want to take on his contract for the years left. I also extremely doubt the Jazz resign Boozer in off season. I think he is gone and Millsap is the starter next year.
If the Jazz are willing to take on salary then trade Korver/Brewer/Miles and get Hamilton and Ben Wallace. You then make a run at it this year with Boozer then either sign Boozer in off season or sign and trade him if right deal makes sense. I think championship experience is a serious deficiency on this team. Martin gives you a starter for years to come but Hamilton/Wallace/Boozer on this years team gets you a chance to win it all this year.

Kevin Martin so bad defensively its not even funny. He let everyone he was guarding last night open for dunks layups, or a foul under the hoop.

No reason the Kings would do it. Boozer could just walk away and then they've given up Kevin Martin for nothing.
I don't much like it for us, either. Martin is fine at what he does but he is indeed an atrocious defender and the Jazz would be plowing back into the luxury tax, perhaps for several years...and I don't really want to do that for him.

AFter reading a few responses ..... Kevin Martin is a truly elite player. You can expect 45% shooting, 4.5 boards and three assists a game. Fabulous free throw shooter. With Millsap having the game of his life last night, Martin still almost beat the Jazz along with just Evans.
Money is not a problem for next year for the Jazz because Boozer's $12.6 will be gone, along with Korver's $5, and there will be no reason to resign Brewer.
Sacramento would be one of very few teams that have a need for Boozer and cap space to pay him pretty well.

I think Sacramento would be more willing to negotiate a sign and trade in the off season. That guarantees them they don't get nothing for Martin. I would pursue that in the off season if I was Sacramento.

Martin is one of the few players that is worse at defense than Boozer and is more injury prone than Boozer in the league. As much as I would love to see him play with Deron, I think it is very very risky.
