• There are differing opinions in Utah as to what strategy to pursue with Carlos Boozer. Ownership wants to trade him to avoid paying luxury tax. Coach Jerry Sloan wants to keep him because he thinks the Jazz can make playoff noise. All in all, the Jazz might be better off keeping him because their payroll will be roughly $58 million – under the projected tax line – after his $12.7 million salary comes off the books this summer. But don’t discount a solution that would solve both problems: Trading Boozer to the Pistons, who have long coveted him, for Tayshaun Prince. Such a swap would give the Jazz a playoff-tested defender with length and all but get them out of the luxury tax for this season. Prince would be on the books for $9 million next season, but he’d be easy to trade because of his expiring contract. Plus, the difference between owing and receiving luxury tax money this season would be roughly a $7 million swing.

Im not sure where they are getting this from. But getting Prince would be a good deal for the Jazz, but I dont see Detroit wanting to do it.

Espn also reporting that Boozer for Prince is a valid rumor. Good trade for the Jazz as they save luxury tax and improve their defense. Boozer has been great this year but with Millsaps play and AK-47 play at PF, this trade does make sense. I would like Detroit to include Ben Wallace in the deal so he can be the Jazz back up center.

I guess Detroit trys out Boozer for rest of year and resign him if they like him but if it doesnt work he leaves and they use cap space for someone like Bosh. I would think they would want some young talent back such as CJ or at least Fess or Kosta.

That is an awful trade with the way each has been playing. Prince has been a joke this year and Boozer has been All Star worthy. If we're going to trade Booz, I think we need to get something more back than just Prince. I want at least one nice young prospect or pick, and I want a solid vet back as well. Even at that price, whoever gets Boozer is getting a steal. We're talking about a top 20 NBA player here, people. You don't just hand those away for nothing.

Are you kidding me? While Ray Allen may not have a lot of years in the tank, he's an expiring, and a vet who would fit perfectly in the mean time. This guy while good at defense, would be a back up at SF, or misplaced at SG. He's also basically done nothing this year, on a really bad team, and he's going to replace a guy who many have said has been snubbed of an All-Star selection? No thanks.

Also, damn HolyToledo, do you do anything but think of trades? lol

Prince is an excellent defender. With him and AK playing together, the Jazz would have the best 3-4 defensive tandem in the league. Plus Prince can hit the three. I like it.

LOL, not my trade idea but does make the Jazz better defensively. Allen not going to be traded. I prefer trading Boozer for a center like Biedrens. The Jazz would have a log jam at SF/SG but Brewer, Prince and AK-47 clogging the passing lanes on defense would be interesting. It also allows AK-47 to play more PF and we have seen over the last 2 games how well he does at that position.

Combining the rumor on insider of Tayshaun for Boozer and the Possible deal you posted for the Pistons regarding Amare for Villanueva/Brown/Wilcox, it works in a 3-team deal for the Piston, what is the likelihood of one or either of those 2 deals coming to fruition?

So Hollinger doesnt think it is going to happen. Utah Jazz do nothing then it will be up to SLoan to make it work versus the Lakers. Maybe game next week's game versus the Lakers will show the Jazz how they matchup thus making a decision whether a move is necessary. The Lakers matchup wise is the worst matchup in the league for the Jazz as they are simply too long. We have no one that matches up with Gasol!

Next week's game will only show if we can beat them in the regular season again this year. It will not demonstrate how the post season will go.

idk, if you've been watching the lakers this season, but they're a bad match for every other team in the league, so this really isn't that surprising.

The Lakers are the team you need to beat so you should try to manipulate your roster to beat them expecially since the Jazz can beat everyone else in the west. Even though Denver beat us 3 times already, I do think the Jazz are capable of beating them in the playoffs as long AK-47 keeps playing well.

Gasol is the problem!! Millsap/Boozer is too short to guard him and Memo too soft to guard him as well as lack quickness therefore. If you traded Boozer for Biedrens then Biedrens can guard him and you can hide Millsap on Bynum.

Jazz never, EVER do this trade. The moron Berger who mentioned it is stupid. Why would Utah trade Boozer to get a lesser player for the rest of this year and then still be on the hook for $11 million plus next year? So basically we are right back to where we are right now next year in terms of luxury tax while getting worse this year and probably next year too. Stupid trade idea from that guy!

Jazz would rather just allow Boozer to walk and be under the tax next year then have to do this all over again.
