Last night I came this close to breaking all those rules to dial David Thorpe (father of young twins) at midnight, screaming: "The Utah Jazz are f---ing amazing!"

Check it out, its weird to see such a glowing piece from a national writer. People are really starting to take notice of the Jazz.

Do you really think Sloan is the reason the Jazz run such a great offense? He has assistant coaches. Hornacek not Jerry Sloan has helped AK-47 and Memo' games. The Jazz decided to finally run more, play small ball, and trust each other to pass to the open player. Jerry Sloan has never agreed to small ball but necessaity and adaptation has forced him into it.

Im a Sloan hater and have been for many years!!! I would have fired him after the Stockton/Malone years were over. I beleive in young innovative coaches especially for young teams sort of like the Saints in the Superbowl. Re-tread coaches are a waste of time and Larry Brown should never get a coaching job again.

I will give Sloan this, he deserves coach of the year this year!! Has he done the best coaching job, far from it. He has dealt with the Boozer distraction well and finally allowed AK-47 to play some PF position which I wanted for years. I think Sloan does deserve credit for adapting finally to the NBA change of style and player personailty which he admits to have done. He admits to mistakes in the past and I give him credit to him. He is a man of principle, a man who tells you what he believes and wont lie to you, a man to respect, and the coach of the year, BUT he is far from a knowledgeable basketball guy and definitely not a smart man. He is Jery Sloan, which is you get what you see which is good enough for the Jazz to make this run, but unfortunately not good enough to get to the next step, a NBA Championship. If Sloan wants to win it all, he would be devising a way to beat the Lakers. He doesnt think that far ahead!!

Horny helped AK with his jump shot and has been doing so for years. AK the last 10-12 games is looking like the AK of old and it has nothing to do with Horny because many of his points are in the paint.

And to answer your question, YES.

Jerry Sloan has captained the NBA's #1 FG shooting offense more times than any coach in NBA history. And I don't even have to look it up, that's how easy it is. Obviously players are a big part of that, but he's done it enough over the course of 20+ seasons that its obvious Sloan knows how to coach offensive basketball. The Jazz have fielded a multitude of great offensive teams without the benefit of high draft picks, deep pockets, and an "it" FA destination at their disposal.

Since elite offensive players and deep supporting casts are a product of those three things, and great offenses are a product of elite offensive players and deep supporting casts generally speaking, it stands to reason that the Jazz have, at the very least, maximized the hand they've been dealt in putting together the great offenses they've had over the years. Since Sloan has the lion's share of control in managing such things, it also stands to reason that he should get a fair amount of credit for delivering a great product without a lot to work with.

Once again, you are a (insert adjective of choice). Sloan is one of the 5 best offensive minds in NBA history. Absolutely on par with the likes of Jackson, Nelson, Auerbach and Riley.

Yeap. He sucks. There's not reason at all to suspect Jazz great performances have something to do with him...

I think a Jazz fan ought to respect Sloan. Even younsters ones should know it. It's so darn obvios it's amazing some people can't realize.
To sustain Sloan has everything to do with the bad things but nothing to do with the good ones it's not only disrespectfull but dumb.
Of course just MHO.... naaaahhhh.... it's a fact!

Locke had Abbot on his LoS today. The guy is a total AK homer. It was great to hear somebody from the national media actually praising the Jazz. The national media still sucks though.

Oh and btw, to all you Sloan haters, he drinks your milkshake ALL UP.
