Sloan Says No Trades!!!

Sloan said in interview yesterday that the Jazz are not making any trades.

Compared to Cavaliers and Celtics whom are pulling their hair out to try and improve their team, I cant understand the Jazz mentality. The Jazz seem to want to play out the season knowing they are not good enough to win it all. I guess they are hoping the NYK pick is what is going to put them over the top. If the Jazz are lucky to get in the top 3 picks, they get Wall, Cousins, or Aldredge. If not, as 6-8 pick likely, then the Jazz get a player that may not be more than a bench player. The first 2-3 picks will be great players 2-3 years down the line but by then Boozer and AK-47 will be gone.

Are the Jazz simply waiting for Kobe to get old before they try to win it all. Makes no sense!!!

The answer is simple. The Jazz goal is not to win the championship but simply to put a team out there to create enough excitement so that fans come out to watch.

Oh I must have missed the interview when Sloan or Miller said Boozer and Kirilenko will be gone in 2-3 years...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_dillema

The logical fallacy of false dilemma (also called false dichotomy, the either-or fallacy) involves a situation in which only two alternatives are considered, when in fact there are other options. Closely related are failing to consider a range of options and the tendency to think in extremes, called black-and-white thinking. Strictly speaking, the prefix "di" in "dilemma" means "two". When a list of more than two choices is offered, but there are other choices not mentioned, then the fallacy is called the fallacy of false choice, or the fallacy of exhaustive hypotheses.

False dilemma can arise intentionally, when fallacy is used in an attempt to force a choice ("If you are not with us, you are against us.") But the fallacy can arise simply by accidental omission—possibly through a form of wishful thinking or ignorance—rather than by deliberate deception ("I thought we were friends, but all my friends were at my apartment last night and you weren't there.")

When two alternatives are presented, they are often, though not always, two extreme points on some spectrum of possibilities. This can lend credence to the larger argument by giving the impression that the options are mutually exclusive, even though they need not be. Furthermore, the options are typically presented as being collectively exhaustive, in which case the fallacy can be overcome, or at least weakened, by considering other possibilities, or perhaps by considering a whole spectrum of possibilities, as in fuzzy logic.

Boozer is gone after the season!!! Thats a reality and deal with it. The only decent outcome would be a sign and trade using Harprings trade exception so the Jazz get some talent back.

I dont think any of you nor the Jazz management think they will win it all this year so whats the purpose of sitting on your hands other than they are happy with just making the playoffs. For heavans sake, even the lakers are rumored to try and get Nate Robinson from the Knicks.

Wait a Jazz rumor as KOC has finally picked up the telephone....oh damn he was ordering pizza. Pizza with anchovies...what a rebel!!!!

First of all, you have no idea what is going to happen with Boozer in the offseason. You are not in the Jazz front office or anything of the sort. So stop acting like it. Secondly, the Jazz can beat anybody in this league. Cleveland and LA included. The Jazz will probably finish with the 2 seed if they keep playing how they have been, which means they'll have home-court in the first two rounds. Anything can happen in the playoffs..

We can't do anything: Philadelphia isn't interested in making a trade. The idea behind trades is to improve your team, not just to make a trade. I haven't seen any logicalk trade being discussed which works for both teams that improves our team enough to move us to the next level.

Where did Sloan come out and say there is no chance they will make a trade before the deadline? I heard him say he thinks this is who will be on the team, and that he likes these guys if they come to play...what did you expect him to say?

That doesnt mean KOC isnt working the phones, and that something couldnt happen...it probably wont, but nobody has come out and squashed the idea before the deadline day is even here, that would be idiotic.

Why do people think Sloan rules the roost? It is clear that he is consulted on personnel moves--but wasn't he "furious" about the Maynor trade? If he is calling all the shots why did the team make that trade in spite of his objections? And did it make the team worse?

Marcus Camby
Haywood
Butler

The Jazz could have gotten all these players without trading their nucleus simply by including the NYK pick and sometype of combo of (Miles and/or Korver). The Jazz simply over value this NYK pick!!!

The trade was necessary for financial reasons but the Jazz back up PG position would be better with Maynor. Price is better suited as a back up SG because he is clueless on how to run an offense.

Its tough to overvalue something with an indeterminate value. I don't blame them at all for holding on to it. Look at most championship teams; they are built on early round draft picks. How often do the Jazz get those types? Once in 20 years. It might be a long-shot, but if you trade it, then its a non-shot. Like it or not, right now that pick is the Jazz's best hope for winning a future championship. None of the players you mentioned were going to get us past the Lakers anyway, so why mortgage your slim chance for no chance at all?

The funny thing about trades is that both parties have to be interested and accept. Dallas had a better package than us. So did the Blazers. We can't force them to trade with us.

I wouldn't say that Boozer is a sure lock to be gone.

You need to step down from the ledge.

I understand your point but I think this team is close to winning a championship if they can get a better center than Memo. Amare/Collins for Memo/CJ/Korver & NYK pick I think would put us over the top and the Suns would likely do it. Thats the type of trade I want!!

Amare is a great offensive player, but defensively he makes Memo look like an all star. He is rarely involved in the defense on his teams. He is athletically gifted enough to be a good defender but never has demonstrated the effort. Caron Butler is another poor defender.

Haywood would have been a good addition without the attachment of Butler to the team.

Clueless? Last night he made many hustle plays, along with some great passes at the end of the 3rd, beginning of the 4th quarter that helped the Jazz win.

You're both right. Ronnie Price makes a lot of hustle plays, but he's much worse at running the Jazz offense than, say, Eric Maynor. That doesn't mean that he's not valuable, but in my eyes he's not the ideal backup PG for the Jazz.

I agree. One thing I would like Price to do is DRIVE to the basket or try to make a play as time expires in the quarter instead of just standing there and chucking a three up with 2-3 seconds still on the clock. It drives me crazy!
