Collison or Williams?

It hasn't been fair to Williams to always be comparing him with Chris Paul. How about comparing him to Paul's replacement over the last 14 games?

In those 14 games, Collison has averaged over 20 ppg on 48% shooting and 10 assists.
For this season, Williams is averaging 18 ppg on 47% shooting and 10 assists.

Why don't you compare the team's record, you'll see how great Paul really is. Also while Williams has some frustrating injuries, they are nothing compared to what Paul's are starting to be.

Collison and the Hornets are 5-9 over that stretch, we are 10-4 or 11-3 in games that Deron played. /endthread.

Deron>or=Paul>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Collison. Players that help their teams win are MUCH BETTER than players that put up good numbers and lose. END OF ANY KIND OF DEBATE! Deron has had a small string of bad games, and some of you guys are acting like he is trash. He will get through it, and you will all be looking like fools.

Collison and Williams are not playing with the same teammates. To suggest that Williams causes his team to win and Collison causes his team to lose, while both put up equivalent numbers, is just silly. Shame on you.

:banghead: all the dwill hate on this board is getting a bit out of hand. sure, it's okay to be unhappy with his poor play as of late, but you can't fault him for not trying. he's playing with a bum wrist and still has put up 10 straight games with 10+ assists. if that's not trying to help your team win, i dont know what is.

seriously, if your unhappy with having the best PG in the league right now on your team, it's gonna be hard for you to find much anything to be happy about.

Winning is all that matters, and they have lost more with him than they would have with Paul. Don't believe that, then shame on you...

Seriously? You've got to be kidding. The guy's putting up great numbers, but he's doing it on a team that is quickly sliding out of the playoff race and simply isn't very good at all without CP3. Marcus Thornton has a higher scoring average and field goal percentage in his last five games than Dwyane Wade does on the season. Does that mean we should be comparing him to D-Wade? No. D-Wade's been playing hurt all season (as Deron has been for the last two months) and somebody has to put up stats on a crap team (as Collison and Thornton have been doing lately).

The job Collison has done filling in for CP3 as a rookie has been highly impressive, but comparing him to a top flight PG and borderline top 10 player in the league is simply absurd. I've been as unhappy with Deron's recent play as anybody (well, clearly not anybody), but he's still a pretty damn good player. Even when he's shooting poorly, he manages to make a big impact with his ability to run the offense and find teammates for open shots. He'll get his shot back eventually, but even if he doesn't (which is pretty unlikely, unless his wrist stays hurt forever), Collison isn't on his level (or anywhere near it) and never will be. I feel dumber for having had to address this comparison.

This has got to be the dumbest thread Ive seen in a long, long time....and obviously Im as tough on Deron as anybody.

best stevebozell post ive ever seen.

And agreed, the Hornets are a playoff team with Chris Paul. They're never gonna make it there with Collison running the team, no matter what kind of stats he pulls. His great play is just showing more and more how CP3's stats are all show.

Don't care how Deron has been playing since February, Dwill is still better than CP3.

2009 draft ... with the 20th pick the Jazz take Eric Maynor
with the 21st pick the Hornets take Darren Collison

The Utah Jazz have traded Eric Maynor and Matt Harpring to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for the draft rights to Peter Fehse.

Now this one is an argument you may be able to make...you chose the wrong one though.

This doesn't matter, we would have traded him anyway. Who's to say Maynor doesn't end up being as good as Collison? If he got Chris Paul's starting minutes, I bet he wouldn't be that far off.

I think it's time to stop trying to compare Deron Williams with any other player. He's in a Jazz uni and the rest of them are not. Teams pick only once a pick, and I've ever supported the Jazz for picking Williams because IMHO he was clearly the better player around..... goodness.... Bogut and Marvin Williams were the top 2 picks and I bet those temas are not happy about passing on Deron AND Paul!.

I sure wouldn't mind having Bogut right about now...
