Makes sense, for Marshall is at the point in his career where he is better used as a player who can come off the bench and hit threes for a championship calibur team in sporadic minutes, instead of on a lottery bound team. Plus that and the team was overloaded on forwards anyway once Joe Smith got traded to here.

the only thing your gonna get for Marshall is a terrible contract or a team cancer, and neither of them are gonna help this team.

Hard to trade some one no one wants.

Yea, OKC would have exercised all other options before cutting Marshall. If there had been any interest in him, they would have moved him. no interest = cut.

Idiotic move by Presti. Marshall would have definitely been a tradable commodity come later in the season (expiring contract). Either way they still have to pay him. You certainly don't 'exercise all other options' in August.

They still have 21 million in expirings to work with. Why keep him around when he's not a part of this teams future?

With an extra roster spot we can sign a young unproven free agent that might eventually become an asset in the future. Try to find a diamond in the rough.

I will humor you and throw out a 'Such as?' but I really don't think there are any players that fit that description. The only somewhat interesting name left is Livingston but I tend to stay away from players with wooden legs. I mean there are NFL lineman with stronger knees than that kid.

Justin Willliams, Derrick Byars, JaMont Gordon, Salim Stoudamire, Bobby Jones, Jared Jordan, DJ Strawberry might get cut by the Suns, Adam Haluska, Stephane Lasme, Rafael Araujo. You never know. There are some diamonds out there, they just have to get the right opportunity at the right time. There's some kid out there that's been cut several times that could be an all-star someday, it's happened before. Teams should never stop looking for the next diamond in the minor leagues.

Dahntay Jones would have been a nice pickup.

Cavaliers will probably sign him to the vet-minimum.

Marshall would have been great for the team if they actually ended up calling them the Oklahoma City Marshalls...

I honestly dont think Marshall would have had any trade value. I think its better to cut him and sign one of those young guys listed.
