Yes, he definitely doesn't have the personality of a top guy. Although, I didn't really think Joe Johnson had it in him either, and they seem to have a similar demeanor on the court.
Marion accepted his role (at least in a public sense) in Phoenix. Things have really deteriorated for him since he left all of those nice passes Nash gave him.

Unfortunately that what happens when you;re on a team where you have more players on the team that need th eball to be effective on the floor. Somebody's numbers takes a hit.

Yeah, the complaints really started coming out in a little more public fashion at the end of his tenure there. Amazing how averaging 20 ppg as a role player getting some great passes and tough boards will quickly get you thinking you should be the featured guy in an offense.

i dont think thats what happened. the main guys were still nash marion and amare. the role players just changed and with jj and qrich gone for bell and i dont remember who, i think they even unloaded more volume shooters for spot up players. marion was in the best position to thrive and continue to play as the 'great' player he was regarded as.
then again i also remember some people starting to doubt his influence later on, in the season before the deal.
ah well....jeff green doesnt strike me as a type to complain too much.

I can't see how ppl doubt Marion's influence. He was effective during the regular season.
The problem came down in the playoffs when they kept running to the Spurs. Their run and gun and the lack of playing defense was what done them in continuously in the last few playoffs.

Oh... Marion was a great player in their system, GREAT. I was a big Suns fan until the Shaq trade. Marion, nearly as much as Nash, made it all happen for them. It's just that somebody put the crazy thought in his head that he needed to be the star, the front-liner, getting all of the attention.
