Thunder/Mavs POG

Post#1 » by wizkid27 » Sat Feb 28, 2009 4:38 am

Very nice game... just great to watch. The team is totally different without Durant (a big shock to everyone I'm sure). Some good individual performances that just couldn't pull together down the stretch. We got to see a lot of different players in a few different roles due to the injury, which in a weird way is kind of nice. Player of the game-wise, I feel like I could choose one of a few guys, depending upon what part of the game it was.

Player (points/assists/rebounds)
Westbrook 33/8/5
Sefolosha 12/8/1
Krstic 10/9/3
Green 28/12/1

thabo and krstic were ok. but no players of the game

i have to choose between westbrook and green.

westbrook showed some bad shot selection and decisionmaking. but he was the only one who was agressive 100% of the time.

green played very very well. but he was not agressive and stood around watching westbrook struggle instead of demanding the ball.

im going with westbrook, because of the reason i mentioned and the fact he carried the team to and overtime with 5 points in 7 seconds. if green had realized he could make a difference earlier by being more assertive and demanding the ball more, he would have surely been my pog.

I just always try to put 4 guys up there, so I don't impose my subjectivity on the process :)

Jeff Green. Played great on both ends. Rebounded the ball and scored in a variety of ways.

Westbrook took more than 30 shots and shot 34% with questionable shot selection in a close game, not worthy of being named POG.

I agree with the detractions from Westbrook, but Green also just disappeared for a large and very key stretch of the game. I voted for Green, but both had nearly equal lapses that the team can't afford without Durant on the floor. Thabo stepped up big and even aside from the shots that were falling, showed what he can bring to the team.

Although this team is young and tonight's game was the result of the yo-yo effect. This team needs to look at the film and watch what mistakes were made during the game and try to learn no to make those same mistakes next time. Right now, they have to put this game in the rearview mirror and focus on Saturday's game against the Grizzlies.

As for tonight's votes, like the few, it came down to Green and Westbrook. They both did their best to keep the team in the game went KD went down. They both also had their struggles on the floor as well in the two pt loss against the Mavs. My vote went to Green despite his disappearance at the wrong time of the game.
