Ladies and gentlemen of this distinguished and delicious board,
In this thread I wish to have us share our ideas (realistic ones) for this summer with regard to player movement.
What realistic scenarios do you all see that will have us come out of this summer and into the 09/10 season poised to make a run for the playoffs?
Here are some of my ideas:
Scenario #1:
If we don't get Griffin, Harden, or Thabeet, I think our lotto pick has got to be traded for a player that fits our need and is able to contribute right away but not too old. Someone in their mid 20's who is a proven and tested player.
Lets say we get the 4th pick, I think we should package it along with Watson (who should be a hot commodity this summer since he'll be an expiring $6 mil after next year) to move up into the middle of the 1st round/late lotto and get Dejuan Blair, and a solid veteran player.
Scenario #2
Lets say we do get a top 3 pick and draft either griffin, harden, or thabeet. We will be set with one of them, and then can make a slightly more minor move involving Watson and maybe Collison. Maybe Watson/Collison late 1st rd pick for Raja Bell, Diop, filler?
Drop your delicious ideas my honorable OKC bretheren......

Oh and I almost forgot about the fact that we will have money for a free agent signing.
Here are some FA's we should definitely pursue:
Varejao
Brandon Bass
Kidd
Jeff Foster
Marquis Daniels

Yet another player I want us to go after is Leon Powe. I think he'll be a perfect PF off the bench for us and he could realistically be had for nick collison and maybe our late 1st rd pick.

I think we have our Leon Powe in DJ White. We just need him to get on the floor after he's fully healed.

Don't like none of them except for Bass. Varejao wants to start and will ask that kind of money.
The biggest need this offseason will be a long range shooter. I'm pretty sure OKC will draft Thabeet.
Or Harden, which would mean OKC would be looking for help up front.

Re: Draft day/Summer Trades
If DJ White comes back healthy and provedes the interior defense and intangibles we need, then that would be HUGE.
As far as free agents, we need to also get a backup PG. This is a MUST. We simply cannot play another season with watson being our PG off the bench. Our starting "PG" (I use that term very loosely in describing him) is bad enough, we cannot have another incompetent cringe-inducing PG backing him up.
As a matter of fact, we need to get such a good PG that he will wake up RW and threatten his PT. He needs to see first hand what a real PG is.

Re: Draft day/Summer Trades
Thats a good question.
Anyone know?
I think we will have KD, Green, Westbrook, Collison, Watson, Thabo, Weaver, DJ White all under contract. Beyond that, I think everyone comes off the books.
