As I've said again and again, I have almost no knowledge of his game personally, so I've got to take the view points of the wise people here on RealGM.
Also, with the reports from draft express (probably the most promising I've read)... Larry Hughes (by some joke) was on the all-defensive team a few years ago due to his ridiculous propensity for gambling too often on D and leaving the rest of his team out to dry. Not saying Rubio is in any way similar, just trying to see if this is the case with him as well.
Ultimately I'm just trying to seek why Rubio is considered the best point guard prospect EVER out of Europe. Not denying it in any way at all, just asking critical questions
Well I'm not sure who exactly you heard that he wasn't that great of a defender from, but that is completely false. There is a reason why he is often compared to Kidd, he might be a little less strong but his D has been VERY impressive. As an 18, maybe even 17? year old he absolutely stripped one of our PG's on the olympic team. I'm not saying that makes him the greatest defender but that is just a taste of what he can do. You don't see (I want to say) CP3 get stripped of the ball every day. His IQ is not limited to offense, he can pick off passes the same way Chris Paul does but he plays better man defense than CP3 ever will IMO. He might struggle on D at first because he doesn't have elite athleticism but his IQ his far too great to prevent him from being only "above average" on D.
