He's only played around 70 games and he's only 25
I don't think you can accurately define his career

Actually he plays better than most centers in the league. Don't judge him from his stats, remember he earns only about 10 minutes each game as Howard's backup.

Right, the same logic thought about as when Jim McIlvaine of the then Washington Bullets was blocking about 2 shots per game as a backup in 20 or so mins. "If you give him starters mins, he'll double his stats!".
Then to say Gortat plays better than most centers in the league? Wow.
The guy is a big with zero offensive ability, a little bit of sneaky athleticism (he can dunk from the free throw line believe it or not), and a little bit of defensive ability. The guy is not going to be a defensive anchor by any stretch, nor is he even middle tier. If he was really such a gem, I'd imagine after a few years of playing some scout would have taken a flyer on him.
I'd rather take my chances with Krstic who at least has a bit more polished skill-set (albeit with little defense)

Re: gortat
Jim McIlvaine's career high PER was 11.1.
In essentially his rookie season, Gortat had a PER of 17.1.
Not to say a PER in 12.6 mpg proves anything, but to say that McIlvaine ever looked anything but abysmal or that Gortat is at his level is an injustice.
