Ok i was thinking about Rubio being on the board at 3. - Sam Presti KNOWS euro talent. I mean he has picked what 3-4 talents from Europe as late first rounders/second rounders for SA who have mostly panned out remarkably (Parker, Ginobili, Scola etc). So here is what I was wondering....
If Sam passes on Rubio at 3, what implication does that have about Rubio? I.E does Sam passing on him actually mean anything about his talent level/potential?
Like I said, Presti knows european talent, I personally think he has had a better grasp on it than most GM's/scouts in the past 5 or so years, The Hype on Rubio is that he is a bonafide Superstar, if I am a Gm and I see Sam Presti pas on Rubio I would start asking some questions as to why?
Does any one see what I am saying on this? anyone agree? Thoughts?

Re: Presti Knows Euro's...... If Rubio is available..
i think it's the other way around; i.e. if presti selects ricky rubio he must be very high on him and believe he can be a star pg in the nba.
the reasoning is that with westbrook on the team already and only one year into the pg experiment, drafting rubio would pretty much tell westbrook that he's not the future point guard of the team. it would also be pretty much admitting that drafting westbrook as a pg was a mistake.
presti passing on rubio wouldn't really mean much since that's what's expected. starting PG (especially another project point) isn't a strong need for this team. there are glaring holes at SG and C where other quality talent is available. if presti doesn't draft for need and takes rubio it would be a very strong endorsement from him.

I agree, If Presti drafts Rubio and keeps him it will be because he thinks Rubio is special at point and can help this team more than what Westbrook can do at point. It does sound exciting though dreaming of Ricky passing to a cutting Westbrook/Durant/Green etc.
