Nice deal. Nothing special. Etan will help on some nights. The picks are nice bonuses, but aren't really needed. Hopefully they use them to trade up in the second round. Even if they just sell them, that would be cool with me.

I believe the Rockets spent in the neighborhood of eight million to purchase three second round picks in this last draft, so the 3.7 isn't that outlandish. I think that one thing that this team was missing was a bruiser in the paint, and Thomas can give that.Health issues are always a concern, especially as a player gets older; but Thomas, if healthy, gives the Thunder a lot more than Atkins and Wilkins would have on this team. Solid but not spectacular move by Presti.

Phoenix will give you Lopez + Tucker + Sasha + 2011 top 3 protected pick for Collison + our 2010 pick back

Etan Thomas averages 46 games played a season for his career. I don't think the Thunder should be trading anyone on the assumption that Thomas will alleviate some problems in the middle..

If nothing else this two for one swap also opens up another roster spot for a possible free agent.

Last week their were rumblings of Desmond Mason wanting to re-sign with the Thunder. This clears room for that to happen.

PG Westbrook, Livvy, Weaver
SG Harden, Mason
SF Durant, Thabo
PF Green, Collison, White, Ibaka
C Krystic, Etan, Mullens

If they signed Mason that would be 14 roster spots and teams can carry 15. So maybe they make one more insurance move and pick up a guy like Mike Wilks?

But there you have it folks, that's what OKC did with all their cap space this offseason.

Which is not much. I guess we will wait and see if no move is the right move.

The Thunder will definitely be well positioned to make a deadline trade during the season. I hope they do not remain so far under the cap throughout the entire season, seems to me like a waste of resources and just a way to line the pockets of ownership.

Looks like someone else was thinking what I was thinking.

The Thunder freed up a roster spot in their trade with the Timberwolves on Monday, which will allow them to make another move this summer.

Oklahoma City has just 12 players under contract after acquiring Etan Thomas and two second-round picks from Minnesota for Damien Wilkins and Chucky Atkins.

The Thunder could fill the roster spot by re-signing Desmond Mason or adding a third point guard to play behind Russell Westbrook and Shaun Livingston.

Hopefull it's a point guard. He probably wants to go to a contender, but isn't Jason Williams trying to come back? He was pretty steady for the Heat.

He was good for the Heat as a backup in 07-08.. never been an efficient scorer and doesn't play defense, but he gets teammates involved and doesn't turn the ball over a lot.
