I love Russell Westbrook's game and attitude.

Post#1 » by dream_catcher_9 » Fri Apr 30, 2010 7:49 am

I was harsh on him during the season, but after settling down and looking at the big picture I think he has what it takes to lead this team to great things. This series only confirms what I believe. He has a burning desire to help this team win, he is fearless, he has a massive chip on his shoulder. I don't know where it comes from but when you watch him play you can't not notice it. When his game catches up to his desire to win, then that's when we have arrived.

Agreed, and I think it's great that he is going to work out with Derrick Rose and Tyreke Evans this summer. Talk about the future of the NBA at the PG position!

I also love Westrook's game and attitude. The motivation that makes him play with a chip on his shoulder is that his best friend and fellow high school basketball teammate passed away due to an enlarged heart during a pickup game which Russell was playing in. Russell said it has motivated him ever since and that he plays every game in memory of his friend for passed away. The full story is metioned in the ESPN article which people already posted in this thread. Just shows what kind of respectful person Russell is by continuing to honor the memory of his friend.

Westbrook seems like a great kid, and above all, a great talent.

He's a mainstay on your team. Don't lose him.

He had a terrific series. Once he improves his court vision and game management he'll be in the conversation for best PG in the league.

Russy and the Durantula are a fantastic, and young, one-two punch. We need to lock them both up forever.
