21st pick. Go Big or Skilled?

Post#1 » by DizzyDai » Sat Jun 5, 2010 5:19 pm

I'm pretty high on drafting Larry Sanders 21, but now I'm questioning if the Thunder should try for more of a scorer since Sanders stock is slipping a bit.

For example, I believe Jordan Crawford is going to be drafted before 26. We all know Crawford is a prolific scorer. Should we secure Crawford first? Or perhaps Luke Babbit if he slips? Or maybe even James Anderson?

Then we could gamble to see who slides to the 26th and 32nd.

Or...

OKC could trade 26, 32, 51 to Minny for 23, 45, 56. I can see Minny giving up 3 spots in the first to earn 13 spots in the second round.

I think Presti is going to grab a long athletic PF/C type who has good character with one of our 1st rounders or package to move up. Names like Ekpe Udoh, Larry Sanders, Ed Davis, Solomin Alabi, Daniel Orton, Kevin Seraphin. Id be shocked if the draft ends and one of those names arent a Thunder.

So it sounds like your first priority is securing a big.

I think Seraphin will pull out. Udoh and Ed Davis are out of our range barring trade. I keep seeing Sanders and Alabi rise up and down. I feel the Heat or Celtics are drafting Alabi before have that option. Orton is a mystery to me. His stock is really starting to slip. I want to like Orton as a pick, but I'm not convinced.

I just keep wondering if we should go best player available with the 21st pick and see what pans out with the rest. Pittman, Jordan, Gallon, Booker, Lawal and Brackins are the options we can explore with our later picks if we don't draft a PF/C at 21.
