I wonder if Presti projected that the eventual asking price for Jefferson would get so low or if he wouldn't have been interested regardless of cost?

It will be interesting to see Jefferson with the Jazz. Is this a smart move to replace Boozer or a desperation move to pacify D. Williams?

The latter, IMO. The smart move would be to wait or maybe even spend on a wing player or defensive center. The Jazz supposedly matched Portland's offer for Millsap just for this type of contingency. But they panicked and acquired Jefferson, who probably makes them worse defensively and is a completely different kind of big guy they're used to featuring.

Jefferson would have worked better here where we don't rely on ball movement or a ton of screen and rolls with our PF's. He could go iso all he wants with Durant, nobody would double him. On Utah, I don't like the fit as much.

I think Jefferson was actually really efficient in the pick and roll according to synergy sports.

He's isnt amazing at defense, but he is an upgrade over Boozer (he's at least 6-10 vs. 6-7 / 6-8) and blocks around 1.3-1.8 shots per game (depending on the year). It clearly makes the Jazz better than without him, and IMO, better than last years team.

I do think the argument that Green / Ibaka is enough at the 4 is fair for your team though. Both those guys are really young, and I would mortgage your future just yet on an older cast off.
