Oden done again for the Season

Post#1 » by london sonic » Thu Nov 18, 2010 11:02 am

Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden will undergo microfracture surgery on his left knee Friday and will miss the remainder of the 2010-11 season, the Trail Blazers announced this evening.

Dr. Richard Steadman will perform the surgery with assistance from Trail Blazers orthopedic surgeon Dr. Don Roberts at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colo.

Oden, 22, has been sidelined since fracturing his left patella in a Dec. 5, 2009, game vs. Houston. A recent MRI showed damaged cartilage to the surface of his femur, and his current injury is unrelated to the fractured left patella.

Oden previously underwent microfracture surgery on his right knee Sept. 13, 2007.

Another kick in the teeth for Oden and Portland. Looks like he could be done in Portland now and maybe in the NBA. Such a shame for what looked like a Rare Franchise Center. Question is would or should OKC take a huge gamble on him if Portland call a day and dont match any offer in free agency.

I wish that we had gotten the 2nd pick instead of you.

It's a bad day to be a Blazer.

That'd be pretty interesting. If OKC can get Oden who has an extremely low trade value, for pennies.. and not have to give away anything substantial.. why not?

Even if Oden ends up being half of what he was projected out to be, he'll still be your best defender and center.

at this point.. I don't even know if Oden is worth throwing anymore than 6 million at, I mean, TWO Micro fracture surgeries in 4 years? plus a handful of other misc injuries in the past? Wow.

Feel sorry for Oden. Hes been injured seen the 6th grade? And i don't want to throw 6 mil away for him. I rather throw 6 mill for M.Gasol. And if Oden was to end up in Phx right now, he would be better by a month or so...

Oden is a waste of money. Oden getting meaningful minutes in a meaningul game is like trying to catch Santa Claus coming down the chimney. It might happen but I seriously doubt it!

I would take a flyer on Oden at a reasonable price, but I think he will return to Portland on the one year Qualifying Offer.

Looks like Trailblazers havent given up on him yet.

Portland president Larry Miller still foresees the team making a qualifying offer to center Greg Oden despite yet another season-ending injury.

The Trail Blazers would have to make an $8.8 million offer to make Oden a restricted free agent, giving them the right to match any offer he receives.

"If Greg Oden plays up to his potential he is worth that," Miller said. "We will see where (rehabilitation) things are at that level. But at this point, I don't see us not giving the offer if Greg is doing the things we need to see him doing to get back on the court.

"That's how I feel. If he is doing those things, we want to keep Greg around. I don't feel like I'm ready to give up on Greg Oden. I don't think anybody in our organization is ready."

Oden was scheduled to undergo microfracture surgery on Friday in Colorado.

I'd like to see Oden as a Thunder.
