Our defense is drastically different each half.

Post#1 » by dream_catcher_9 » Thu Feb 10, 2011 5:49 am

By Quarters:

First: 50.2% (555-1,105)
Second: 51.4% (524-1,019)
Third: 43.9% (456-1,039)
Fourth: 42.0% (424-1,010)
Overtime: 37.5% (27-72)

First half defense is one of the worst percentage wise, Second half defense is one of the best percentage wise.

I'm not sure whether that is encouraging or not.

We also score less in those quarters:

There's no denying the 3rd quarter is the team's best overall. +1.5 in the third quarter.

I think it's encouraging. We just need to get it in the players heads that we can't just outscore everyone, and have to put forth more effort to start games.

nice site, thanks. I'm looking at other good defensive teams, and none of them have a drastic difference in defensive performance between the 1st half and 2nd half. If we could just get the guys to play some defense in the 1st half we could be a top 10 defense....

Same deal last season, third quarter the best.

But look at the first quarter last year. We won first quarters by 1.3. This year we're losing them.

yep, an encouraging sign is that our crunch time offense is much better. Even though we complain a lot about it, its not much worse than some of the "great" teams.

This is why I think a starting lineup change will have a big effect on the team. Either bring in Ibaka for Green or Harden for Thabo. Either (or both) of those switches could stabilize things.

I think despite your opinion that Ibaka should come to the basic composition for Kristic. then the game will be more reliable than the defense of Nenad

Speaking of defense, am I crazy or would Mike Brown be a shrewd pickup as the lead defensive assistant for the Thunder?
