Value Chart
Who do you value most on our team for the future? Salaries to the right....
1) Durant $13,604,000 - $15,032,420 - $16,460,480 - $17,889,260 - $19,317,680
2) Westbrook $5,082,415
3) Ibaka $1,288,200
4) Harden $4,604,760
5) Perkins $7,123,626 - $7,800,531 - $8,477,437 - $9,154,342
6) Collison $3,272,997 - $2,929,332 - $2,585,668 - $2,242,003
7) Maynor $1,516,680
8) Sefolosha $3,300,000 - $3,600,000 - $3,900,000
9) Aldrich $2,286,000
10) Pleiss
I don't think Ivey, Cook, Nate, and Nazr belong as they are merely stop gaps.
assuming Sam Presti has a similar chart of ranking players in terms of value, we can get rough estimate on how much Westbrook, Harden, Ibaka, Maynor, Aldrich will cost.
What does your list look like?

Re: Value Chart
Whoa, whoa. Westbrook just had a PER23 season and was an All Star / likely All NBA 3rd team. Putting Ibaka or Harden ahead of him for 'value' doesn't seem right, they only have one more year of rookie scale.

Re: Value Chart
Players like Ibaka are a lot rarer than point guards. Nearly every team it seems like has an elite point guard now a days. I feel like Westbrook is a lot more replaceable than Ibaka. BIgs are normally gonna be favored over guards, especially in todays NBA.
And I think because we have Maynor, who could easily be a starter as a PG somewhere in the league, lowers Westbrooks value a bit.
That along with him being cheaper for an extra year, and being younger add to his value over Westbrook in my opinion.

Wait, huh? Westbrook is a top five point guard in the NBA. Ibaka is arguably an above average starter. Which top five point guards are around who can replace Westbrook? There are plenty of PF's with similar productivity as Serge, if not the same skill set.

Maynor would start on how many teams in the NBA right now? Maybe Miami? Lakers? That's about all I can think of. Nick Collison is a better PF than Maynor is a PG, right now. If Westbrook was hurt at half time of Game 2 and not Ibaka, the Thunder lose.
I think the media circus surrounding Westbrook is getting to some of you guys. Westbrook is way ahead of Ibaka and Harden in terms of impact and is only one year older. Saying he's more expendable than Ibaka because we have Eric freaking Maynor is ridiculous...

Re: Value Chart
by the way OP, you're salary list is incomplete. Assuming you are starting from next year, it is
1) Durant $13,604,000 - $15,032,420 - $16,460,480 - $17,889,260 - $19,317,680
2) Westbrook $5,082,415
3) Ibaka $1,288,200 - 2,253,061,
4) Harden $4,604,760 - 5,820,416
5) Perkins $7,123,626 - $7,800,531 - $8,477,437 - $9,154,342
6) Collison $3,272,997 - $2,929,332 - $2,585,668 - $2,242,003
7) Maynor $1,516,680 - 2,338,720
8) Sefolosha $3,300,000 - $3,600,000 - $3,900,000
9) Aldrich $2,286,000 - 2,445,480 - 3,245,151
10) Pleiss
The salaries in red are team options, which we will obviously use. I assume you just left them off. Westbrook, Harden, Ibaka, Maynor, Aldrich, and Mullens are all Restricted Free Agents after their contracts expire, so we can match any offer and keep them no matter what. They also all have qualifying offers which I won't go in depth about, but they are virtually never used.

Re: Value Chart
Westbrook is a top-20 player in the NBA, and top-10 value wise (age, etc..). This recent media thing for some reason has made people think that he's all of a sudden horrible, he's not. He's easily our number 2.
1 - Durant
2 - Westbrook
3 - Ibaka
4 - Harden
5 - Collison
6 - Perk
7 - Maynor
Doesn't really matter to me after that

Re: Value Chart
I think Maynor could get around 3 million on average, Harden around 8, Ibaka 10, Westbrook 12. That is with the current CBA.
Durant 16.5
Westbrook 12
Ibaka 10
Harden 8
Perkins 8
Collison 2.5
Sefolosha 3.6
Maynor 3
Aldrich 3
Pleiss 1.5
total of 68.1 Million with the 10 man rotation there. We would need to add 5 more guys onto the payroll, preferable 2 minimum wage guys making 0.5m, a rookie making 1 to 2 million, and a couple vets around 1 to 2 million. Total of around 74 million in about 3 years from now. With the current CBA its doable. But if there is a hard cap, and its around 68-70 million, we would have to replace Sefolosha and Maynor with a couple players on their rookie deals making 1 or 2 million.

Re: Value Chart
Westbrook is going to get more than 12 million, no doubt about it. Also, some team like miami or LA, or a team that needs a PG will offer maynor more money than 3 mil a year. I think it's going to be really, really hard to hold onto maynor

Westbrook will get the max or near-max. It's too early to say what Harden or Ibaka will get.

Also, $74 million would be in luxury tax territory in today's CBA. I don't think you can project the Thunder's payroll into tax territory at this point.

The reason I don't think it's a good idea to give Westbrook the max is he might think he is on Durant's level. Plus I think Presti is smart enough to pay guys what they are worth. He is all about a philosophy and a process. You don't have a process unless you have a pecking order, a head guy, and assistant, a guy below that and so on. IMO

20 mil is good for Westbrook, since Jason Kidd and Steve Nash getting that amount.

Maynor would be deadly with Miami now that I think about it. Thankfully we still have him for 2 more years at least.
Maynor
Wade
LeBron
Bosh
Anthony
with a bench of
Bibby
Chalmers
Miller
Haslem
Dampier
Ilgauskas
They would need a wing defender, and another big body, but that's a pretty scary team.

Well if Presti doesn't give it to him someone else will be happy to, and Westbrook will be gone. It's not like OKC offers other amenities to keep players around. Westbrook is worth a max contract, anyway.

Re: Value Chart
Personally for me
1) Durant
2) Westbrook
3) Ibaka
4) Perkins <-- Just because of what he bring to the team in terms of intensity and the fact that there really isn't much good center around.
4) Harden, <-- Because he's inconsistent at this point in time due to no fault of his. If we replace him with a role playing SG that can shoot some 3 and some defence (like wesley matthews) wouldn't be a big drop in terms of production, if we actually run some sets on offence.
6) Maynor, some team will offer him MLE at least. He knows what he can do.
7) Thabo, if he can hit open 3, he'll be more valuable. Slashing, backdoor cut, anything consistent to ensure that he's not open on offence.
8) Aldrich, i still believe given his age he can still be a viable backup down the line.
9) Collison, purely due to his age and his contract, i don't think we'll be trading him unless we're getting a much bigger talent as a packaged trade (unlikely), or there's a huge dropoff in his performance in 2-3 season time.
Changeable: Cook, Nazr, Mullens.
Dispensable: Ivey, Nate

Like Is said. Harden will grow to be more valuable than Westbrook due to his BBIQ.
