Westbrook and Game 4

Post#1 » by BIG EDDIE » Wed Apr 27, 2011 1:54 pm

Im not concerned about us losing the last game, because we will most probably still win it 4-1.
What concerns me is Westbrook's play all along.
In game 4 it was pretty bad but he has been playing like this forever.
He is not a typical PG, which is fine with me, but he should really concentrate on what he is good at.
He is one of the best at driving the ball to the basket, even if he is not the very best at finishing sometimes.
I think he should get 80% of his shots from driving to the hole and 20% of spot up shots from around the FT line.
Anything else are BAD shots for him.
Please no more 3 point shots, especially when you are dribbling the ball for 10 seconds, not even looking to pass and then take a contested 3point shot. Really really bad!
Durant does that also and I wish he would stop also, but at least for him those are 30% shots, which is kinda acceptable.
But Russ just sucks as a long range shooter and he is not even tall to shoot over people.

Summarised:

- Stop taking bad shots
- Dont force it to score
- Pass the ball, look for open guys more
- Drive to the basket if you wanna score
- Dont complain that much to the refs and get rid of that frustrated look that you have pretty much anytime you make a stupid move and dont get a foul called for you
Life may not be the party we hoped for but while we are here we might as well dance!

I agree with you, but Westbrook wants to be the man on this team. But remember hes still young and he needs time to develope into a good PG. If Westbrook had a good gudiance from a guy like Steve Nash or Jason kid then we won't have this probelm. Not just for Westbrook but KD too. I know hes our main guy on this team but for gods sake stop shooting three's and just drive the ball or look for your team mates. He's like LBJ....

i agree, especially the last -. His constant whining is getting annoying, and doesn't help him with the refs either.

BTW, I really like Maynor and actually prefer him most of the time, plus we also make quite often big runs when he comes in from the bench.
With him and Harden our offense looks much better than with Russ and Thabo on the floor.

Westbook looked back on track last night. Thank God! Because game 4, 5 of the Denver series and game one of the Griz series he was tatally off his game.

Just some random questions regarding westbrook.

Have we tried having both Maynor and westbrook on the floor for some games for some meaningful minutes? Did we ever tried a maynor/westbrook/harden/durant small ball yet?

i think game 4 rus was less of a problem in game 3 rus

in game 4, battier was like 5mm away from durant the whole game and no foul was being called in OKC's for durant in any of the exchanges. rus needed to initiate a bigger share of the offense imo.

game 3 was just awful and he was straight up chucking.

but the worst part is i think brooks is actually condoning what rus is doing as per some of the interviews he's given, saying how kevin needs to be a distraction at times and does not bring up rus's shots as a problem.
