If Cook gets an offer that we can not match, what do we do?

Who is out there that can either start @ the 2 if Harden and Thabo are on the bench, or someone who can give us some scoring off the benchif Harden moves into the starting 5?

We all know Harden will end the games @ the 2, but I can understand if Brooks keeps him on the bench.

Who else would sign Cook ? John Hollinger says Cook is in a perfect situation for him with the Thunder because all he has to do is shoot three's. Not sure any other team can offer him a spot in the rotation.

But I'm sure the Thunder will sign Cook or Battier, one of the two.

Cook shot horribly on 2s in his three seasons in Miami, so the Thunder had a novel solution: removing the 2s from his arsenal entirely. This is exactly what Jason Kapono should have done about half a decade ago, and you could see the benefits for Cook -- for the first time in his career, he was a useful rotation player.

Cook did what was asked of him, hitting 42.2 percent of his 3s and providing a much-needed floor-spacing component, but his shot chart was fairly amazing to behold. He took five shots at the rim the entire season. Five. All but nine of his 172 shots were outside 15 feet, and nearly all of those were 3-pointers -- only two players had a higher proportion of their shots from beyond the arc (see James Posey comment), and they were 30-somethings with careers on their last legs, not a 24-year-old.

Cook's catch-and-shoot focus yielded the highest TS% among small forwards and a low turnover rate, and he made enough shots that he averaged a solid 16.0 points per 40 minutes. None of this makes him a star, but it does make him a lot more useful than when he was taking half his shots inside the arc -- and shooting under 40 percent on them -- in Miami.

He's probably at the best fit for him. A team that's pretty bad at 3s without him and a team with a defensive minded PF/C combo (both starting and backup) to help him out on defense. Unless he's confident he is confident he can crack the rotation at another bad 3 pt shooting team who can hide him abit on defence. He's better off staying here and giving up a maximum of 500k/yr if he have to. Anything more, he should go for the money.


If not him, i would rather go for Battier or Shawne Williams. I think we need a backup 3 rather than a backup 2 if it's not him.

Any team could add a guy like this who needs to improve on their 3P%.

If a team like the Bulls offer him a deal @ 4 million per to do the same exact thing he could end up in Chicago.

It'd be nice to have Cook back but there are lots of guys around who can do the same stuff. Cook had stretches of good defensive play and had some synergy with Harden / the backups towards the end of the season so I'd retain him if it's less than $3m a season.
