Here's a quote from Hayward

“Hayward got instructions from coach Scott Brooks that he’d be guarding Durant most days in practice and the second-year forward out of Marquette said he embraced the role immediately. “During practice, I told him I would be going up against him all the time,” Hayward said. “I was like, ‘I’m going to push you, I’m going to fight you, I’m going to try and make you mad,’ but at the end of the day it’ll help him because when those guys guard him, they’re not going to let him do whatever he wants. “It wouldn’t be fair to him if I didn’t bring my best every night in guarding him in practice. At the end of the day, it’s good for both of us.”

Brent Barry (NBA TV) reports that the Thunder may have some interest in Travis Outlaw of the amnesty buyout and the broken hand from boxing in the off season.

Outlaw currently has the stench of failure on him, but enjoyed some good seasons in Portland and hit some big shots for them off the bench. It wasn't exactly his fault NJ signed him to such a large contract.

If Outlaw was willing to take the minimum for a year, thoughts?

If he can make three pointers again he'd have some value but even when he was making them in Portland he only had one season with a TS% appreciably higher than 50%. He takes a lot of mid range jumpers and doesn't get to the rim or the line often.

I'd take a look at Outlaw if the price was right, but the addition of Hayward makes Outlaw somewhat redundant, no?

Maybe i'm wrong but aren't we at 15 if we remove Nate?

Westbrook/Maynor/Reggie Jackson/Ivey
Harden/Thabo/Cook
Durant/Hayward
Ibaka/Collison/Mullens
Perkins/Nazr/Aldrich

hmm, if we are really interested in Outlaw we're probably cutting Ivey then. Though tbh, reggie jackson Williams for 5m on 2 year contract would have been a better choice. No way we can find enough minutes for him though.

The year he was drafted there was a poll of his peers in college, and Hayward received multiple votes as the best defender of that draft class.

I tried to google it, but didn't find it. I did find this though:

Don't fool yourself, this is not the next Shane Battier. Obviously he's a role player off the bench behind Durant with zero star potential, but he seems like the kind of guy you want on your team. Here's what Kahn said after trading him/signing Malcolm Lee.

Lazar and his representatives had spoke to me often about his future here vis a vis playing time. I promised them last year if we didn't see a clear path to playing time that we'd do our best to find a new home for him so he could advance his career. I felt it'd be very difficult for him to playing meaningful minutes this year. In Malcolm's case, we see a young player who probably was a little undervalued in the draft and could be important part of our future for the next several years. I wanted to make sure that we locked up the third year and thought it was a fair exchange to have him in our program minimum of three years.
